Needle...how do you stay so lean eating process kraft boxed food???? Gotta be the insulin.........I'm scared to death to try that shit and I won't.......too high of a risk for me bra - but to each his own...how many calories do you think you are taking in compared to my diet?

You know, I used to be an ectomorph back in the day...now when I eat everything, it goes straight to the damn gut. It sucks

I try to eat clean, but if someone puts some food in front of me, I will usually eat it regardless of what it is.

I have found following a low carb diet with one big carbup or a smaller heavy carbload once every 4 days works well. I'e also found carb rotation diets to be very effective for me when bulking. I shoot for 25 calories per ibs of bodyweight and try to get at least 500 grams of protien per day during a bulking phase.

I try to eat clean at first, but usually ends up being eating whatever the hell I feel like. I really feel like it isn't the best way for me to make quality gains, but I just can't stand eating healthy unless I have a show on the line or it's the warmer months of the year.

Well by the looks of it, most of you use the "see food" diet whilst bulking. I'm fairly surprised by this truthfully, as I was under the impression people were a bit cleaner with bulking, considering all the new diets out there and the emphasis put on staying lean. I guess arguments can be made for both sides...those that eat nearly everything will have more BF to lose in following months, and those that bulk clean will make leaner gains, but at a much slower rate. Interesting poll results nonetheless.

One cycle I tried the "as many calories as possible" mentality. I ate pizzas, double quarter pounders with cheese, washing it down with Dr Pepper, Double Western Bacon Cheeseburgers, etc. I friggen blew up and although I was much stronger than ever, I basically looked like a fatass, lol.
So it was only clean bulking from then on.

staying lean here

I compete and bulking up is not the way to go. I bulked last year on the sea food plus protein diet. At 5'6" I was weighing in at 181 and my arms were above 17". My bodyfat was approaching 14%. By the time I got my shit together for the shows, I had 12 weeks to diet. I still ended up a bantamweight, 143. I did well, but I thought Id end up a lightweight. Basically I had to do way too much cardio to get lean and that ate alot of my muscle. No assistance really hurt too. But I chose to go natty. This year Im eating clean year round. I alternate gaining and hardening phases.

On hardening phases I drop my carb meals to half of what they are on the gaining phase, and drop out the post workout carbs. Only for a few weeks. I usually drop about 2% and start over. Its basically taking 3 steps forward and 1 step back, at least in theory. Im staying around 8%-10%. For me getting fat is just not something Im willing to do. Its fun for a few weeks, then one day I wake up and say why did I take this approach, then it takes twice as long to get back to where I was. I used to do this all the time. Bad cycle of events for me.

As someone who has gone both routes, both do have advantages. I was super strong for my size last year, milk and natty peanut butter in large quatities really jetison my strength. But neither are in my current diet plan as they sit right on the bellybutton. Just my two cents.
