Is it really worth bulking on shit food? Muscle built by bulking with bad foods seems to be more dense.... it's definelity different that bulking on clean foods only. Does anyone agree with me?

Is it really worth to bulk with bad food? I mean, I cut after to get rid of the fat.... but is it worth it to bulk with good food?

heres the gist of my current bulker

meal 1 eggs and toast
meal 2 oatmeal and whey shake
train
meal 3 post workout shake 40 grams whey 70 grams dextrose
meal 4 1/2 box kraft dinner, 1 can tuna and a glass of skim milk
meal 5 same as number 4
meal 6 1/2 container cottage cheese, glass skim milk, 1-2 sandwiches with lean beef
meal 7 same as 6
meal 8 whey shake in milk prior to bed.

There is also 4 tablespoons of EFAs in the morning. Its fairly lean as I am using insulin in the evenings

Do most of you that eat eggs remove the majority of yolks? I hear different opinions supporting both sides... I myself drink 6 whites w/ 1 whole egg with a whey shake between meals.

I have 4 jumbo eggs whole, and a few whites

The Terminator said:
I eat like a garbage disposal...Anything and everything I want....Year round :D . I probably have one of the dirtiest diets of any member here...and I bet I am one of the leanest as well ;)

i hate you:bawling:

On days that I train I try and stay pretty clean. 6 Meals body building foods. On off days I tend to eat less meals with shittier food.

Needle...how do you stay so lean eating process kraft boxed food???? Gotta be the insulin.........I'm scared to death to try that shit and I won't.......too high of a risk for me bra - but to each his own...how many calories do you think you are taking in compared to my diet?

You know, I used to be an ectomorph back in the day...now when I eat everything, it goes straight to the damn gut. It sucks

I try to eat clean, but if someone puts some food in front of me, I will usually eat it regardless of what it is.

I have found following a low carb diet with one big carbup or a smaller heavy carbload once every 4 days works well. I'e also found carb rotation diets to be very effective for me when bulking. I shoot for 25 calories per ibs of bodyweight and try to get at least 500 grams of protien per day during a bulking phase.

I try to eat clean at first, but usually ends up being eating whatever the hell I feel like. I really feel like it isn't the best way for me to make quality gains, but I just can't stand eating healthy unless I have a show on the line or it's the warmer months of the year.

Well by the looks of it, most of you use the "see food" diet whilst bulking. I'm fairly surprised by this truthfully, as I was under the impression people were a bit cleaner with bulking, considering all the new diets out there and the emphasis put on staying lean. I guess arguments can be made for both sides...those that eat nearly everything will have more BF to lose in following months, and those that bulk clean will make leaner gains, but at a much slower rate. Interesting poll results nonetheless.

One cycle I tried the "as many calories as possible" mentality. I ate pizzas, double quarter pounders with cheese, washing it down with Dr Pepper, Double Western Bacon Cheeseburgers, etc. I friggen blew up and although I was much stronger than ever, I basically looked like a fatass, lol.
So it was only clean bulking from then on.

staying lean here

I compete and bulking up is not the way to go. I bulked last year on the sea food plus protein diet. At 5'6" I was weighing in at 181 and my arms were above 17". My bodyfat was approaching 14%. By the time I got my shit together for the shows, I had 12 weeks to diet. I still ended up a bantamweight, 143. I did well, but I thought Id end up a lightweight. Basically I had to do way too much cardio to get lean and that ate alot of my muscle. No assistance really hurt too. But I chose to go natty. This year Im eating clean year round. I alternate gaining and hardening phases.

On hardening phases I drop my carb meals to half of what they are on the gaining phase, and drop out the post workout carbs. Only for a few weeks. I usually drop about 2% and start over. Its basically taking 3 steps forward and 1 step back, at least in theory. Im staying around 8%-10%. For me getting fat is just not something Im willing to do. Its fun for a few weeks, then one day I wake up and say why did I take this approach, then it takes twice as long to get back to where I was. I used to do this all the time. Bad cycle of events for me.

As someone who has gone both routes, both do have advantages. I was super strong for my size last year, milk and natty peanut butter in large quatities really jetison my strength. But neither are in my current diet plan as they sit right on the bellybutton. Just my two cents.

LB--

all depends on whether you are natty or not.....go ahead and ask Coleman and Priest what they think....I personally, hate getting smooth let alone fat......

in recent years I have ate anything and everything, this year I plan on taking a approach much like what needsize posted to bulk,Im fat enough and eating bad foods would put me in the 16+ bf range and that isnt a option

i usually try to eat about 9 times a day give or take 1, but most of my food is meat, oatmeal and rice......but anyone on here that says they don't cheat every now and again is full of shit

Well I just cheated today....ate a double-cheeseburger. I'm bulking so I'll let it slip, but I've been scarfing mostly chicken breast, tuna, natty peanut butter, lean red meat, etc over the past few weeks. Buncha veggies too to make up a good portion of the complex carbs.

low glycaemic carbs, lots of protein, low fat

i just eat more of it all, especially the protein

something i do when im bulking a bit is eat many times a day (ie more than 10) but instead of proper meals i might have a 100% carb meal (eg a mango or banana) and then a protein meal (ie a chicken breast)

it just makes it more comfortable and fun for me

i dont think i bulk quite as much as you guys though for some reason

last time I bulked I was eating around 5500-6000 cals a day. Sometimes I would get in 7000 or a little over...that was pretty much my limit...God did I feel bloated those occasional days.

2 years ago i tested out the "EAT EVERYTHING YOU SEE" diet....i ended up at 286 lbs and about 13%...it sucked. Took me almost 6 months to get back down to a reasonably lean 235.

Eating clean is the way to go...although can be difficult when bulking.....damn calories.

What the hell is kraft dinner? I kept hearing Terrence and Philip rave about it on South Park. It must be a Canadian thing...eh?
It's macaroni and cheese in a box. you boil and drain the pasta, add some butter, milk and the powdered cheese and your good to go. I like mine with a little bit of salt a pepper, but alot of people prefer it with ketchup.

Kraft mac and cheese has almost no nutritional value whatsoever for a bodybuilder (except maybe for the meager amount of milk in it). I see guys in college eat this shit and Ramen noodles all the time and wonder why they never grow. Seriously, it is sad that some people are utterly clueless when it comes to nutrition. They really should make it a manditory part of education these days with the way Americans are eating in general. just my 2cents

so since I eat a box a day you are saying that I know nothing about nutrition? I eat 1/2 box with a can of tuna, which yeilds over 50 grams of protein and 75 carbs per serving, seems like there is nutritional value there to me

Yea, but that's in Canadian grams so that's really like 28 grams protein and 40 carbs.
:)

LMFAO @ DT.

If you want to gain massive poundages, try eating 6-8 eggs 4-5 times a day with a plate full of rice and a litre of 1 percent milk. Throw in 3-4 protien shakes @ 50 grams per day and its grow time.

No, I didn't mean it's ignorant to eat mac and cheese. But if that were the ONLY thing you were eating, it would be questionable. The can of tuna contains 35+g protein, so the macaroni is accounting for very little of overall value. But as far as making the tuna taste good, its a great combo and does have a lot of carbs for bulking purposes.

I dont count on any pastas or carb sources for protein, any that they contain are just an extra

I eat as much clean food as I want (which isn't alot really) and add 150 grams of protein from shakes, plus a can of tuna/chicken right before bed.

3-4 shakes a day? my god man unless your really pressed for time I would try and get in more solid meals

Same page as you bro. Gain too much fat and when you diet down in the extreme you'll lose more muscle.

I am taking in about 4200 calories a day. It is not the easiest thing to do. I get most of it from weight gain shakes, protein shakes, and at two good lean meals a day.

If bulking, it's as much food as I can find. Sample day...........

10 whole eggs/w cheese and milk, 2 sausage links, 2 servings of grits or 2 slices of toast w/butter, 2 glasses of 2% milk

40 gram shake with 12oz 2% milk

Fast food, 5-6 hamburgers w/fries or 1 whole pizza or 2 chicken sandwhices w/fries or all you can eat buffet of any type if i can find it, etc....

40 gram shake with 12oz 2% milk

Dinner with large steak, fish,or any meat with rice, potatoes, bread, more milk cheese and butter and veggies

40 gram shake with 12oz 2% milk

More eggs, or junk food, leftovers, anything I can find

Throw bagles, snacks, and any free food I can find at any time and add it to what was listed. That's a normal bulking day, and I miss it!!

Monopoly

For me it is allowing simple carbs in all its forms.
Fruit, cake, pie, bread, chocolate ....
To prevent myself from completing destroying myself, I will still eat my clean
proteins and veggies first.

As soon as I add the simple carbs, I pick up water weight quickly.

I use the 5 whites to 1 yolk ratio.

12 meals a day at least 500 cals per meal. im now done bulking and im tapering down, i will cut in may.

currently bulking on test and dbol, and i eat everything in sight, all day long.
im pretty fat but my strength is through the roof, which thrills me. im sure ill cut up alright.

tried the see food, got fat. Im sick of flucuation, ill eat clean next time around. at LEAST 2 shakes, more like 3 a day along with 3 whole meals a day.

Honestly, it changes for me.

During the start of the cycle before the gear kicks in I try and eat fairly clean... however when I feel the hunger comin on I usually just start eatting anything I can get my hands on to try and packon as much size as I can.

Its really difficult for me to put on and/or maintain weight due to my insanely high metabolism, so im not too concerned with what im takin in when just trying to put on size. However once Ive given my cycle a good amount of time to kick in and ive put on around 15-20 pounds, I ussually then alter my diet to be as clean as it can be to finish up my run. Then I will go straight into a natural cutting regimine after that.

It seems like changing my diet towards the end of my cycle this way, makes the transition from bulking to cutting go much easier for me. :Chef:

I did a dirty bulk last time, and I regret it. I gain fat easy. I got pretty strong, but fat as well. I'm still cutting now and regret it.

Next bulk I am going all clean except for 1 cheat day a week.

I eat pretty much whatever I want. That means high protein, high carb and high fat.

That said I make sure that everything I eat also has solid nutritional value to it.

I steer clear of most fast food and if I do eat it it's a burger only with no extras on it and NO fries. Now those fuckers will kill ya. Alright I'll eat fries every now and then. I eat a burger or 2 a week by itself, but fries only once in awhile.

Jesus I'm making myself massively hungry right now.

Time to eat.

Moderation is key I never diet but when I get a burger I don't order the fries or soda

Depends how much size you want to put on and if you're willing to initially deal with some junk. I've never seen a pro off season that didn't look like a bear. They get huge, eating everything, and then make a 100% hard core effort to lean it down to the weight they desire. Most of us arent that dedicated and should do it in a more moderate, putting on good lean muscle weight rather than a load of fat..

Big amounts of protein, i dont acount nothing then proteins.
I shove food down i dont even like to get the proteins.. Tuna, salmon, ect.

I normaly go for 2L of milk 100ml contains 3.7grams of proteins. 1L = 37, 2L = 74proteins just from milk?
Add 25g of protein 2times a day
50g + 75g just from fluid = 125proteins

Bulking after a strict cut / contest cut is a temptation to eat whatever comes across your mouth. But If you avoid that temptation and add calories week after week you will find out that you will be satisfied eating good portions of clean food. And then you will have an easier life when it comes to cutting.

I have bulked in both ways. I enjoyed both but found my cut after eating clean much more easier. So I eat clean from now on. and these words are coming from a meso food lover.
