Honey as a replacement for sugar

Ffactor

New member
I have two cups of offee a day with ceam and sugar, would replacing the sugar with honey be any better?

I believe honey is half fructose/half glucose. It doesnt have much nutritional value so it wouldn't make a really good replacement for sugar, perhaps a little better. Splenda might be a better choice.

Nutritionally, honey has antioxidants that sugar does not.

1 Tbsp Honey = 64 calories
1 tbsp of table sugar = 46 calories

I also read somewhere that sugar has the glucose and fructose molecules hooked together, whereas honey has them individually. I'm not a chemist, tho, so I don't know if that's factual, or even what impact that has. Take it for what it's worth :)

Honey is glucose and fructose. Basically the same thing as sucrose.

Glucose + fructose = sucrose
glucose + glucose = maltose
glucose + galactose = lactose

Honey does have some antioxidants, and because of the fructose, not an insane GI rating.
