Honda 954RR looks like capable weapon.

Ducati 916 or 900ss
Aprilia RSV Mille R
MV Agusta F4 SPR

Any other bike and you'll jsut be another bike in the crowd.

r00+, it should NEVER be about the "image". Shame shame.

If you have ever been on one as I have then you would know it isn't the best choice just because of Carl Fogarty's success at bringing it into domination. However that era ended as soon as Fogorty retired. Colin Edwards is putten some heat on the Duc's. I personally wouldn't mind having an RC51. (I've never had a V-twin before)

You can ride any of these fine steads (Ducati 916 or 900ss, Aprilia RSV Mille R, MV Agusta F4 SPR) but it dosn't matter if one you can't afford it, or two they bend you up like a paper clip. Such as the 916, 996. Also exclusivity isn't all that its made up to be. To guys like me motorcycling is ZEN. Its in the doing not the brand name.

I'm no where near these guy's level. I just what a nice sport bike for the occasional track day and the weekend mountain carving. The CBR 954 RR looks like a capable weapon. (not to mention will cost almost half as much as the others you listed.)

The 900SS is an option. However if or when I lay it over I must take into consideration the price of parts. Nevertheless a beautiful bike though.

10k area is my personal cut off.

I remember riding a club members YB11 Bimota as I was about to take her around for a spin he says "becareful my plastic cost as much as your bike." Needles to say I didn't enjoy the Bimota as much as I could have. At the time I had a ZX-7R.

Not one of those expensive Italian bikes can hang w/a zx9r, 954,r1,gsxr1000, 0r even a gsxr 750 w/ the right rider. Minion your making a good choice w/the 954.

Yeah, but you'll be another bike in my mirror.

All those bikes you listed are slow like shit and handle like poo poo.

Are you guys on crack?

Do any of you watch world superbike racing?
Take any top five placings and you will see Ducati, Aprilia and usually suzuki or yamaha.

If you want a cheaper non-italian bike, go with the Suzuki Hayabusa 1300cc, they handle like a 750.

Hayabusa is a pig compared to an R1. Besides its really a "sport tourer".

Those that mention Ducati, Aprilia, Agusta MV (actually the MV havn't been proven track worthy yet) But any way you take Ben Bostrum and put him on any bike and he'll no doubt come out on top. Just because he rides a Ducati dosn't mean I can maximize the potential of the bike like him. Actually if anyone of us could we would be wasting our time in any other profession.

Sport Rider did a 4 bike comparo with the R6, R1, RC51 and the GSX-R750. The R1 cam out on top though. In that same issue they did a comparo with the GSX-R 750 and a MV. The reults were "In terms of outright performance the 2000 model Gixxer stomps all over the Agusta F4".

Aside from that you have to factor in "bang for the buck" the Japanese bikes are the right choice.
