HOLY SHIT! Shot out blood after I removed the needle

Today was shot day. I went into my quad, aspirated, then injected. After I withdrew the needle, blood squirted out of my leg like a fountain... not just flowed rapidly, but squirted. I've never had that happen before. From what I understand, if blood flows out of a wound, the blood is comming from a vein. However, if the blood squirts out of the wound, the blood is comming from an artery. The needle was only 1.5 inches, so I wouldn't figure I'd experience something like what I describe. Well, that was about 10 hours ago. I went to work and didn't feel strange, nor did I experience any pain in my leg or elsewhere. There didn't appear to be any discoloration, either. You guys have any thoughts on this? Help would be MUCH appreciated.

Ha ha ha should have seen the look on my wifes face when that happened in front of her..

Mac is right though. It happens and the first time is insane shit..

happens. as long as its just one spurt its fine (remember the injection bolus creates pressure).

I don't know if it would have only been one spurt. As soon as it happened, I applied pressure to the wound. After I removed the pressure, there was no further squirting and only very mild bleeding.

Interesting. Makes sens that when you stick in oil it creates pressure and could possibly squirt out blood if you start accumulating blood in the same spot. I am glad you posted this thread I would have probably had a heart attack right then and there in the future should it happen I will be cooler since I read this
