Higher rep squats. Holy crap.

And I know I will pay for it tomorrow. Began tonight with some lighter weights, increasing weight as I progressed. It became tiresome quickly, regardless of the weak ass weights I was using. A few months of this and my legs should be able to endure anything.

Here's how my workout went.

1.26.03

Squats.
12 with 135
10 with 155
8 with 185
6 with 205
8 with 225

Front squats
3x6 with 135

GMs
3x8 with 115

Calves, seated
75 reps with 90, rest pause

Ab work.

I haven't done squats for more than 5 reps in a long, long time ... Notice the lighter weights. I am focusing on preventing injuries by nailing form down. I will add small increments each week. I think I am really getting the hang of front squats, and am beginning to like them more. I feel them hammering my quads and abs throughout the movement.

Just thought I'd share the beginning of what I hope will be quality progress.

Another quick note: I weighed in at 197 tonight!!! Heaviest I've ever been. Or should I say fattest? lol

I may try some higher rep squats a time or two a month...especially while overseas.

Once every 3-4 months I do a Hundred's workout. Where normally I might do 365 for sets 8 reps, with Hundreds I'll warm up then load the bar with 225. I'll do as many reps as I can, say 20, rest 20-30 seconds then do another set as many I can. Rest another 20-30 seconds, only partially catching my breath each set. I keep going til I reach 100 reps total. I do the same thing for hack squats, leg curls then call it a day. Try it sometime.

lol, word.

Well, after doing 5 reps max for several months, 8 seems like an eternity. :)

Trust me on this one I know it sucks, On every lift I had to drop the weight a rediculous amount. But on the flip side conditioning and form get much better

20-rep sets where you cant possibly do 21 are just the hardest thing I've ever done. Big legs cometh though.

i did a 20 rep squat set with 315. i was seeing stars by my 12th rep and popped a blood vessel in my eye somewhere along the line. i was sore for 6 days.
