Hiatal hernia... anyone ever have one of these repaired?

I feel ya - constant nausea and the pain is intolerable at times.. I have trouble choking down my own saliva - never mind ANOTHER chicken breast! My throat is constantly swollen and sore, vocal cords are affected....

NA's dad had it and he is quite pleased from the sound of it.

I have been in TOTAL HELL... taking prevacid 5 TIMES A DAY! The sides were as bad if not worse than the symptoms... painful cramps followed by painful diarrhea, headaches and I would STILL have to drink peptobismal!

It took me YEARS and several incompetent GI guys to find my current doc. If the contents of your stomach continuously back up into your esophagus Barret's syndrome WILL follow which is a pre-cancerous condition... T - have it taken care of. NA's dad was like, the surgery is no biggie and the end result is good.

I am going to call my guy Monday and just tell him to bring it on. I mean, my symptoms are not getting ANY BETTER - they are GETTING WORSE. What is the point of delaying? I will end up a chicken myself if I put this off too much longer and living like this just isn't living.

Bikinimom I asked many people who had the surgery about it a few years ago when I thought I was going to need it. Fortunately, turned out I didn't need it.

Everyone said the mesh works great and you are back to work the same day. They were all glad the got the surgery.

This is a surgery you can't put off. The longer you delay the worse it gets.

I share what I think is your concern about something foriegn being in your body... but the surgery really is the besty option.

Thank You SGeorge - this only reconfirms my thoughts that I should give the doc a call on Mon and schedule it already.... who knows, I may ACTUALLY grow because I'll be able to eat! hehee

Thank you. :)

Wow... I also had the h. pylori virus... had to take 3 antibiotics at the same time... a prev pack i think it was called. Keep in mind it is better to have this operation while you are young, because the body will bounce back better.
