HGH opinions?

HGH, as most of us know, is costly... About $1000/month for Somatropin if you're going to do it right. I have a prescription for it, and have gone on it for up to 3 months (before the economy went so bad). What is the opinion here, on how important HGH might be along with T or other "supplements"? I've tried HGH, but can't really tell any difference, other than MAYBE a quicker recovery from strains & pulls.

What is your age and stats?
Why do you have a script for GH?

HGH efficacy is usually a function of age.

< 20 years old don't think it does a thing
> 40 swear by it (I sure do)
> 20 and < 40 reports are mixed.

Age 42

6' @ 185 lb

5.3% bf

Been working out since age 16-17; dedicated & "addicted" to lifting since age 35. I'm not up for cameras much, but my avatar pic is from this summer.

Reason for Rx: My wife & I went to see a hormone specialist, and basically you ask and you receive. At 42 (& 44 for my wife), our HGH levels are fallen way off. It's not a controlled substance, and as long as you're under a doctor's care, there's no issues with using HGH (other than the threat of going broke).

The thing is, I don't know how much of my success in getting where I am, is due to the HGH, and how much of it is just the dedication and hard work. I'd keep on it if I thought I'd really see a loss of recovery or a loss of ability to stay as fit, but the cost is killing me. There's NO DOUBT that my body fat percentage got where it is since I started the HGH, but also, I really slammed myself with discipline in eating habits and lifestyle changes. If the opinion here says I'll lose it if I quit HGH, that will be important for me to think about.

I'm 42 and I can't imagine stopping HGH. The recovery benefits alone are incredible. I used to routinely lift with a 26 year old and my GF (wife, practically) is 24 -- I can't tell a difference between my recovery rate and theirs.

Thanks, that says a lot! I guess I better find the $$$. Definitely the recovery time is a big issue.

I think it is an amazing compund if used properly and well worth the money
however I would say ONLY for the more advanced athlete.

2.4 IU's (0.8 mg of Genotropin Miniquicks) x 2 per day -- 5 on / 2 off. Started September 2004 and haven't looked back.

Is that like an HRT dose? or higher?

Technically it's HRT, but I've walked my dosage up till my IGF-1 levels are right on the upper edge of normal. I have to miss a couple of the shots to actually stay below max normal range.
