Well now that is true. I'm glad M$ stepped up and extended the warranty to 3 years for that issue. Still, it sucks and their hardware is faulty.

If Sony had the games M$ has, I'd switch over in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I have to deal with a poorly made console just to play decent games.

is sad that sony has not come out with any good games .. the ps3 is a great piece of hardware. i just wish that would of put a little better video card in it but oh well.. Still its sad such a great peice of hardware and cant do shit with it cause most games suck bad. all mine does is run folding home

You've never played H.alo ? Specifically the first H.alo - ?

wow, I'm glad I'm not you.

haha

Ya I don't play a lot of video games anymore :(

despite the fact I would suck master chiefs balls.............I'm still glad I stayed out of this generation of systems. I have a couple friends with 360's..........and while there's some good video game experinces there, it's just not worth the money. And what also infuriates me is that almost all FPS games now coming out, you have to go online to play with more than one person. So basically Microsoft is strongarming it's customers into getting xboxlive just so that we can play multiplayer or co-op. Best video game experince of my life was with H1 and H2.........hooking two systems together with two TV's and going 4 on 4. You just can't beat that environment. Drinking beers, smoking cigars.............talking mad shit to your opponents who are just a couple yards away............priceless. If H3 doesn't split screen or only splits into 2..................it will validate my decision. I really got a boner watching the commercial for the new metroid game on the Wii..............I was waiting for them to do something in FPS with those controllers, and it looks like fun.

All games I know of can still be played via system link (hooking xboxs up with an ethernet cable). In halo3 you can play co-op with 4 people over system link in the campaign! They have all bases covered with this game.

I bought Metroid for the Wii last week, but it takes me forever to find out where to go and what to do next because I get high then can't figure anything out. It's frustrating me. lol.

you so rock for that quote. But I'm thinkin you might be getting "high as a mother fucker", which is really fucking high...........when you should just be getting "high"...........that way the high actually enhances your playing prowess.........whaddya think?

about the system link, I know they still do that............but hardly any games anymore split into 4 screens, or any good ones for that matter. Alot of games, if you just want to do 2 player co-op..........you need two tv's..............this is bullshit

what pisses me off is that pc gaming is leap and bounds ahead of the xbox and the ps3 graphics wise .. i mean the nvidi 8800 ultra make the viedo cards in the consoles look pathetic. Look at the screens of crysis for the pc it blows away any concole game by a fucking mile. its so grapicly intense that a console would not even play unless they rendered it way down. man this games is sick you need a bad ass pc to play it at least a duel core with a directx 10 video card..

There enlies the problem. Sure they can make games look badass graphicly, but nobody can keep updating their computer to run it. Most games on PC are never run at their peak settings anyways. Very few people can afford it.

That's why consoles are always going to be inferior to PCs. Consoles are designed to have the same hardware and specs and must last for several years. Games are designed to support the hardware it has at that time.

PCs can constantly be upgraded and do advance technology rather quickly. Thus the games are always more advanced, but I prefer console because I can lay on the couch and play. :)

Heh. No f'n kidding. I've upgraded my pc on a yearly basis and I'm still lagging behind.

Check out Bioshock if you want to play a decent fps.

Looks like another title Sony was counting on to deliver failed bigtime......HAHAHAHAHA CLICK ME HAHAHAHAHA

while excellent titles keep getting released for xbox360.....ALLYOURBASESAREBELONGTOUS.

That Lair game was never even really on the radar. Haze however, is PS3 exclusive, and looks more fun than the overhyped Halo.

Ninja please  Lair was one of the big boys Sony was bringing to the table. It failed and failed bigtime. They still only have Resistance FOM and it will be a while before they have anything else worth playing on the PS3.

Haze is only being developed for the PS3 at this time. It may very well be a timed exclusive. Even at that there is a reason why you hear so little about it. (because it's only going to be average)

Halo3 FTW!

I never really liked split screen gaming....using a corner or even half of the screen to play a game is like trying to watch a movie on the picture-in-picture screen. It was tolerable for Goldeneye but hell, that was Goldeneye. Sports games are the be all end all of multiplayer games. Full screen for everyone.

I doubt those in game renderings with the zooming in to the player are gameplay footage....looks like it was spliced into the game for promotional value. Otherwise that would be a big buzzkill to the flow of gameplay having to watch that every time you "maximize" something. That game will kick ass though. It has impressive physics. The latest and greatest graphics don't make a game though. I'd rather fire up Castlevania IV for SNES for the 5th play through than Gears of War for a second play through, for example.

Really....I considered buying a ps3 since the price is about to drop $100 not only a price drop but an upgrade to a 40 gig hard drive also.

But there are no fucking games for it.....its been out for way too long for it to have such a piss poor offering.

I have yet to see an Xbox 360 game with as impressive physics, animation, background effects, and innovation as the above, and some of those games are still in the development phase.

NES and SNES were the greatest systems of all time. :(

The whole graphics emphasis thing saddens me. Then again, I was into RPG's and adventure-type games exclusively. I never liked FPS's, nor would have thought they would have taken over the vid scene.

It goes in phases. Fighting games were the thing in the 90's, now it's FPS's. Halo 1 was great, but had poor level design and the second one was almost a chore to go through. Goldeneye was the best FPS game, at least on a console.
I like the emulation games for NES and SNES more than any of the new stuff now to be honest. Whoever came up with those is a genius. Many of those games are unplayable now because you can't find them, and even if you do, half the time you won't be able to save your progress because the battery save is long gone....and that's only if you can get the game to work anymore in the first place! All those old games I used to have like Actraiser, I can finally try to beat again. All the old Final Fantasy games are available, which is pretty much the definition of classic.
The Wii has a virtual console feature where you can download some of these games, but the library so far is very limited.

I think that's why I liked Everquest when it first came out -- it was a natural continuation of console RPG's given advances in electronics technology.

I got, like, $70 when I sold my old FFIII (mint with box) last summer, lol. Those games go for quite a bit nowadays.

i have 2 n vidia 8800 ultra in sli so i think i am set for at least a year

The gaming and internet play i would say owns Xbox360. I played Tiger Woods on Xbox and PS3 i noticed drastic graphic differences. The PS3 was way sharper and thats only 780p i cant wait to buy some games for the PS3 that are 1080p

I played the Tiger Woods demo and it looked pretty good for a ported game. Ridge Racer 7 is 1080 p I think, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma but it's still sort of a port of Ninja Gaiden Black from the Xbox.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue should be 1080p -

http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3162341

aap should get a PS3.

the ps3 its a amazing peice of hardware has amazing potenial

its a pain in the ass porting a 360 title to sony's wee box. one is not packing quite as much sausage as the other.

I'd get one, but I already have a perfectly good dust-catcher hidden under a pile of DVDs :o Must be part of getting old but the last few gen's of console haven't interested me at all

I had an xbox360...loved it, games, downloadable movies, demos all that shit.

BUT....the failure rate was through the roof with that system and even though I never had a problem with mine I traded it in and got a "wii".

Any gamer knows full well that you should never trust Sony when they show a game or game "footage". They are notorious for touching up game play on commercials or trying to pass off prerendered video as game play.

True, they did that with Killzone 1. Look at the God of War games for PS2 though, which many have compared to early Xbox 360 games in terms of graphical quality. The people who have played Gran Turismo 5 Prologue stated that other than an occasional graphical hiccup during multiplayer, it still plays as good as it looks on video. I think there'd be a lot of disappointed people if the game turned out to be worse than what they are showing.

Here's the kind of animation you can achieve with PS3 and Bluray capacity-

664vgcp.gif

and this game is still in development. I'd like to see something on PC or Xbox 360 that has that type of detail, and not just hi-res graphics.

wait until that game comes out...I bet it will look severely downgraded in the graphics dept.

ahhh, I know that trick...........make the CPU have to render only what is directly infront of the player and have everything else PITCH dark. I'd like to see if that demo holds the same quality when in an outdoor and fully lighted setting. And don't get me wrong, xbox games do the same thing.........making shit unnecessarily dark irritates me to no end.

I agree with TC2..........sony has a habit of showing their "workstation" demo's that have a habit of getting "detuned" once ported to the actual hardware. Was it just that gif, or did that framerate look like shit?

I took off work for the day Halo3 comes out next week.

Me and a buddy are going to the midnight lauch event!

lol

I'm an idiot.

Lots of particle effects and on screen movement is some of those scenes.

Have to settle for this launch game as far as shooters go for now-

<~~~~~~

Well this nerd is off to go get drunk and eat some wings at hooters, swing by and pick up my reserved copy of Halo3 tonight at the midnight launch, then go back and play at a buddies house all night long.

I took off work tomorrow so sadly for you guys I won't be posting.

You're going to be waiting in line until tommorrow.

I tried the same shit with halo 2..had it preordered and prepaid...the fuckin line was so long and took me over 2 hours to get it.

Well when they did this with Halo2 they made people get in 2 lines.

One was for preorders paid in full and the other line was preorders which still had a balance due.

I was in/out in like 10 minutes because I paid mine off weeks prior.

For some reason the dumbasses didn't do that this time. So I had to wait for idiots to write checks, swipe credit cards, etc. It took an hour before I got mine.

Gotta hand it to Gamestop, their stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

Funny how they talk the game up a couple months before launch and then trash it in the review.....two-faced morons. I swear these reviewers are all suffering from ADD and biased control preferences because you'd have to be to sell this game that short. I'll admit at first it was frustrating but once you learn what you have to do it's nowhere near as bad as everyone says. I seriously don't know what they were expecting to get control-wise using analog sticks in a game like this. The only thing I might've changed would have been the context-sensitive combat, which slowed the action down a little. It would've been better to have a list of actions to choose from in any combat situation vs. getting the command prompts for individual fights.

Figures people would bash an unfamiliar control scheme....kinda like that guy who reviewed Zelda: TP on Gamespot and said the remote functions were pointless and annoying compared to the mighty analog setup. Blehh, I suppose it's human nature to attack what you don't understand.

This game should've gotten at least a 7.5, borderline 8 rating.

____________________________________________________________
On second thought after playing through more than half the game, it is average at best. Way too repetitive and sloppy, half-assed gameplay design to hold my interest.
