Hey Lion, training volume ?

rockabilly

We are the same age (really old) and since old guys don't have the recuperative abilities as the young guys in their 50's and younger, I thought I'd ask what your volume and frequency was. Mine is 4 working sets per bodypart done twice a week, 8 reps, 60 sec. rest. Do you up the volume during cycle?

My training volume is:
3 exercises per body part.
10 body parts.
3 sets per exercise, 45 secs rest.
10-6 reps, descending.
3 days on - Push, legs & abs, pull, rest. Repeat and two rest days.

When I cycle, I can use heavier weights. My body weight will climb from 10 to 25 pounds over 12 weks easily.

As for recovery, I have no problem. Should I feel overtrained, I add a rest day or drop my reps to 8-6-4. Each year my base weight off cycle increases.
