I went in for my first spray tan last week, and I must say...Im thrilled with the results! I may never lay in a tanning bed again - good alternative for us tanorexics but who dont want the premature aging or the cancer that goes along with using a tanning bed rear round.

I will be going once a week for the next 5 months. lol

I sometimes use it for comp. It's really great if its done right.
Good for you for not laying under the sun! The leather look is not pretty! Lol!

oh my God, could this hurt my baby? I've been spray tanning once a week for about 6 weeks now..... *bites nails*.

How tanning in pregnancy can affect your unborn child.

Which kind of booth are you using? I just upgraded my tanning salon membership to include both mystic and versa.

versa tan....is there a difference? I think Im just going to do it on special occasions instead of every week. I know it probably wont hurt anything but I dont want to take the chance lol.

I had a moment of guilt before my appointment yesterday...I use nose filters when I go....but still, thats alot of "stuff" on my skin every week. Plus I know I sometimes get the fumes in my mouth.. I'd feel more comfortable in a stand up UV bed and actually tanning my skin for the remainder of my pregnancy...

I thought the article Nef posted said this:
" In solarium beds concentrated doses of UV radiation can be up to five times the strength of the midday summer sun. So theoretically you increase your chances of having a baby with damage to nerves and spinal cord by 5 times. Scary"

Im not UV Tanning in a tanning bed, now that I can lay out in the regular sun...I was just trying to say that I'd be more comfortable UV Tanning than spray tanning every week..Im feeling guilty spray tanning. :worried:

and not using the regular sun while pregnant is rediculous. Pregnant women go through their pregnancies with fear and guilt and judgement over every thing they do. Most of the time for no reason. I will be laying out while pregnant.

I might try the versa next week...does the color start to fade after a week, or is it fading before then? I am a complete spray tan noob.

No it takes a week to fade - I never had a problem with fading but I had to change my shower routine. I only exfoliate once a week the morning of the tan and then after that I just sqeeze body wash onto my hands and wash that way instead of a loopha- and no matter what I did it would start to fade earlier on my face so I bought a bottle of Mystic Tan spray in a bottle at Sephora for my face and for any other touchups...which I never used.

You'll have to let me know which one you like better! I've never been in a Mystic Tan booth.

OH, and it took me about 5 weeks to get my feet looking right. lol. Go figure. I had to pile the barrier cream on my toes so the spray wouldnt get into the creases of my pedi - and then I would go home and soak my feet in the bath for about 30 seconds. I know you are not supposed to get wet but it felt like my feet were too dark, no matter how much I moisturized my feet it seemed like the spray just sucked into my skin and they were too dark for me! lol. Not counting the brown toes I had the first time I went. They looked so dirty! hahaah. I didtn like wearing the booties either. I never once had a problem with my hands....
