LOL... not much into Eminem. However, dude's ability is uncanny. Plus I think he has his head on his shoulders way more than I thought. Anyway, I was walking past a TV, and heard one of his songs from the new album, and the female voice interlaced, duo style in a 'Tricky' format with him.
I was impressed.

Much more than 15 minutes for him, he's the real thing.
Still not my taste though.

Eminem's got skills, no doubt about it. the dude can spit, but he's incredibly irritating with his voice. Hard to listen to his shit more than once. usually you'll hear a track (non single) and go "wow, that was pretty dope". then the next time you hear it, you'll want to smash your ipod against the concrete.

what annoys me about eminem, is moreso his fanbase. The stupid white boys who've never listened to anything outside of it jumping on his nuts thinking he's the greatest thing ever. he's talented, but most of the guys on his nuts have never heard any real hip hop outside of him. Kinda like DJtoolery

LMAO at that statement being incredibly retarded.

The only time his voice was ever annoying was with his last album which he openly admits was garbage, he was also detoxing from drug addiction during that time. While detoxing off of drugs he was still more creative than 98% of the rappers out there now.

Hip-hop and Rap as a whole is pretty much garbage right now and its very rare to be able to find creativity, good beat, and decent enough for multiple demographics to like it.

Eminem has been one of the most creative rappers EVER, there are NO questions. Most dick riders just say "Biggie or Pac", forgetting that that was a completely different time and completely different styles.

Biggie was just "hood" then went mainstream, what now a days people would call "a sell out", but no one will mention that about Biggie. Pac was much deeper with his raps, besides his gangster "Ima fuck Biggie up" stuff, he was very political, or at least had some kind of "life lesson" he was trying to get across.

The you have people that will say OLD SCHOOL hip-hop is the best because it MADE the genre of music...Have you listened to how elementary their rhymes, vocabulary, and messages were? It was like nursery rhymes to a beat.

Then you get into the NWA days where it was just "We are gangsters, we do drugs, we will kill you"...When GAGSTER Rap was the thing...

Eminem has spanned everything from corny joke tracks, diss tracks, mainstream tracks, club tracks, and deep personal emotional tracks.

No, it's the fact that people that are "hip-hop" fans, hold onto this notion that they must DEFEND the old school hip hop artists that got praised because they were BREAKING new ground. they get all the respect in the world for that, but it doesn't mean they are or were anywhere close to the best lyricists or anything close to it. you said who currently, and then listed off southern rap (which you said you hate) top 40 artists.. drake, wayne, ti. which by the way, are not good lyricists. yet you say how much better todays rappers are than the old schoolers.



you listed off rappers delight.. bad example to prove lyrical ability. how about run dmc? krs-one? kurtis blow? all were great lyricists.
 
I didn't say there weren't ANY, Im just saying people say that Eminem for example shouldn't be in the running as one of the best lyrically, are normally comparing it to "old school" hip hop artists that were talking about completely different topics and styles. So since Em doesn't fall into their style he gets over looked because the stuff he talks about is different.

I love Tribe, KRS-One, and half of the old school peeps, I just get sick of people putting SOOO much emphasis on OLD SCHOOL when it comes to the OLD SCHOOL vs "NEW SCHOOL" for things such as "best lyrically" and whatnot.

No it's not notes, or riffs, or anything more than BARELY keeping a beat together while trying to be as loud and obnoxious as possible. Its garbage and you only have about 3 other members of this site that have thought ANYTHING you've "shared" is anything more than that.
