Hepatitis B Infection and Steroids

akrama: Im not a carrier since January this year. My hepatitis last +- 5 months. When I figured out that I had hepatitis I just finished a winstrol/Fina cycle and I was VERY ripped, very happy the only thing that made me mad that time was that I was in the middle of my school exams and I was prepared for them and I got sick! So the school failed me and I lost my semester! Im a very open person so when I got back to Brazil I asked my doctor if I could take 1 amp of sustenon a week to keep my mass and he said that test is not hard on the liver so I took it(Winstrols are!!!). The doctor told me to rest as much as possible and I did and he also said that when I feel that I wasnt that much tired anymore that I could start working out clean. By mid october I was feeling great although I was still yellow in my skin and eyes. so I start working out very slowly and thanks God everything went ok and I started a cycle by the end of December.
I have a friend that he has hepatitis B and he doesnt have the sympthons at all but very rarely he gets really dizzy and the doctor told him that its because of the virus but the feeling of being really dizzy goes away in a day. Mine last a month and a half! He also do heavy cycles but he is Ok!
akrama BB is my life too! believe me! When I started my cycle in december and I knew that I still had the virus I was irresponsible but I had to do it! December is summer in Brazil and everybody was fucking ripped and thats made me really sad and depress. I hope your body "hide" the virus so u dont have to deal with it. Keep checking your liver acid levels ALWAYS I mean every 10-15 days. When I was sick I didnt have sex with people... How do u deal with that? I was dating when I got sick and we broke up a relationship of 5 years I cheated, my mistake and to pay the price I got sick. Anyway... If u need more info send me PM´s. Later

I would advise you to discontinue all AAS usage prior to meeting with your specialist. Please be very frank about AAS usage with him or her. Actually oxandrolone is frequently prescribed to patients suffering from alcoholic cirrosis and hepatitis related liver failure, ask you specialist for his or her opinion on this course of treatment.

icelandic... I have read something about that before. Do you know what dosage they were giving? I do have some Anavar and if it helps, I would love to jump on it.

macro... How would I access that published paper by dr. berkstorm?. I have been taking close to 2g of ALA a day. I have just started milk thistle and have just placed an order at the AF store for a bottle of Tylor's Liver Detox.

btw- what is your water intake like.. you would be surprised what a difference proper hydration can make..

you might also want to consider r-ala.. where you can get the better results with lower dosages.. a 2g a day, processing may actually put strain on your liver (at least theoretically)..

but as above.. you should NOT take orals until this is resolved.. and even in the future should carefully consider oral use..

With Hepatitis you are going to have to be careful with any drug you take. Hepatitis as you know results in diminished liver function. Your average Joe won't notice any difference. But someone like you using AS is at increased risk of further damaging the liver. Be carefull.

The only thing I can tell you, (that may be positive) is....

The traditional marker of liver failure is elevated enzymes. Something that a lot of MD's are not aware of is that the majority of enzymes that will be elevate with liver failure are also elevated with bodybuilding. The enzymes are released due to tissue damage in either case. There have been studies which show the diagnosis of liver failure in bodybuilders had been pre-mature or inacurate do to elevated enzymes (from muscle damage) being high and giving a false impression of liver function. An enzyme specific to the liver and not muscle is gamma-glutamyltranspepidase (GGT) this should be the enzyme your MD is using to determine liver function. Good luck

Simplified..Once you have Hep. B you will always be a carrier of it. It effects the liver primarily and this is reflected in blood tests by having increased LFT's (liver function tests) or enzymes which ever you prefer. LFT's are kind of like the exhaust from a car... the harder the car is working the more exhaust fumes it will emit. Same thing with your liver, when it is working hard it will produce increased enzymes. Hep. B diminishes your liver's ability to function. Some are worse off than others and their livers are almost working at half capacity after a hep.b or c infection. All drugs taken orally are processed by your liver before being sent into your blood.So, by taking orals you'll be putting more stress on an already stressed liver. Also stay away from alcohol as much as possible and any over the counter medication. As for injectables they are only mariginally safer than orals for your liver. Hep. B is VERY infectious, more so than HIV. It is transmitted through blood, saliva, vaginal secretions, semen. Once infected it takes about 3 to 6 months to test positive for anti bodies, once you are positive, you will always test positive. You can live a healthy life with it, but IMO, try and stay as clean from any drugs.

I have asked my doctor to perform a GGT test and I am scheduled for a new blood test soon.

In my present report:

Hep Be Ag is negative
Hep B core Ab, IgM is negative
Hep B core Ab, Tot is positive
Hep Be Ab is positive

HBsAg confirmation is positive

Hep B Surface Ag is presumptive positive

AST is 45 normal is 0-40
ALT is 54 normal is 0-40

Testing for NGI HBV Superquat
Copies/mL is 24000 Copies/mL
Test Information is SPRCS

I don't know what some of these things mean but my doctor seems confident that I am infected and not just a carrier but again, she's not sure if those 24000 are active viruses! I get the feeling she really doesn't know much.

I am scheduled to see a liver specialist but won't be for a while. If anyone can help me understand these test results, I would appreciate it.

I dont agree with u cause I had hep B and Im not a carrier. I started dating the same month I got cured January 2002 and my GF doesnt have hep B and we always have sex without condoms.
I had hep B and I got cure almost a year ago on january 02
If I do a blood test will show that I had hep B but that doesnt mean Im a carrier and that also mean that I can have sex without condom and I wont infect the person with hep B. When I had the virus in my system I couldnt have sex but now Im cured and I dont pass the disease anymore. Just wanna make this clear.
