well, I guess I might as well be the expert in this discussion considering what I just went through. I just had hemorrhoid and fissure removal of that area. I too had the bleeding from both. I could deal with hems, after all, i've been dealing with those guys all my life. But the fissure was the most painful part. You could have torn yourself down there and if it doesn't heal right, it will always bleed like a mo-fo. I went through the surgery 2 weeks ago and I'm just now able to sit for long periods. The surgery isn't fun, and recovery is worse. The first 4 days is miserable but they give you some good drugs to relieve the pain. I don't know whats worse, recovery or the flex sigmoidoscopy they perform right before your surgery. None of that scoping in me before the surgery was that painful, but you certainly learn how to swallow your pride. I guess, after having the surgery done, it's really worth it. But, what led me to seek advice was that my best friend almost died from having a fissure. His fissure (basically a tear) was over an artery. So, an arterial bleed, was occurring within his rectum without his knowledge except for some constipation. One day, he was working on his truck and was complaining to his wife that he couldn't breath. After taking him to the emergency room , they found it. The doctor attending informed him after the operation that they had to transfer 4 pints of blood into him!! Long story short, seek medical advice and if the suppositories don't work, go to a colon doc and get the surgery.
For now, take 4-6 sennekot laxative tablets per day. This won't make your stool runny, but will make it nice and soft. This way, it will let your area down there recover. I weighed in at 175 before my surgery - just finished a killer cutting cycle and now i'm weighin in at 157!!! This was only 2 weeks ago...been on a high fiber - low protein diet...it sucks...but well worth the operation..
