I was just wondering why people at they gym get upset if somebody tries to help them.
I love it when people offer suggestions to me.....just wondering.

depends on tact really... helpful and annoying are 2 diffeent things... like you could say "hey put your elbows in on that movement you will get better results." or you could say "hey, you ever try puting your elbows in on that movement... i tried it because someone told me about it and it worked great for me." see both of those accomplish the same thing yet one uses tact.

My favorite is when they tell you during your set and then physically try to correct your form for you... this will get you a good shouting at, at least from me.

no shit! I appreciate advice... but i see a lot of people doing a lot of the wrong things... and for heaven's sake i hate being touched... especially in mid movement or something.

Because it's usually some skinny little know-it-all telling experienced me what he read.

Just the other day some little fuck (who earlier was straining to rep 60s on the flat bench on his first set) saw fit to tell me I shouldn't use lifting straps (I was doing BB shrugs with 3 plates a side) because I'll have a weak grip and he had this great book with wonderful grip exercises blah, blah, blah. I told him I was more interested in growing my body than working specificly on a monster grip. Then I put my hand out and said "Shake my hand, Dude" at which point I applied all the strength in my forearm to his uncaloused right hand. When he went down on one knee I let go. My training partner was laughing his head off. I just smiled at him and went back to my shrugs.

People get mad sometimes, they think they know it all.......

I usually point and laugh at the dumb fuckers....they usually don't wanna listen to advice anyway...

I agree with Saint 100%.......It is all in how you say it. I also believe that timing and respect also play a big role.

As for myself, I will help anyone that has a question...but unless a person is going to potentially cause an injury, I do not offer advice. I will let the person who is overseeing their workout know of my observation and will let them handle the situation.

Good luck to you......

I couldn't have said it better!
