Help with my pre-contest training...

ZZuluZ: I understand what you are saying about soreness. Sometimes when I do the stones (in a contest), my quads and upper back get very sore and fatigued. I just thought that this might mean that I should train my quads and upper back more often...or put a bit more focus on them.

YoungGun2015: Thanks for sharing with everyone on here my name...lol...not that it would be very hard to find anyway...lol. I still plan to video me doing all my events so that I can find weaknesses. Just watch the video of me and Mike doing the tire flip...my technique is horrible even though I am a lot stronger than he is. He makes it LOOK easier than I do...

heavywear: You are right. I need to go train with those guys. I would like to go train with them in late July, the Ohio guys in August, and back to STL a few times too.

Cornholio: I really don't hit failure on anything just yet. I have missed a 365 stone once at a contest and my technique has failed me quite a bit.

gettinlarger: Yep...I am Clint :) Nice to meet you...

B fold,

If I was you I would try sled dragging to failure and see what gives out first. (Is it your legs? Is it your grip? ect.) This has been a method I use to pin point a weakness and I hear many others use the same. Also just as a word of advice you have been doing SOOO great with the training you are currently doing be careful not to get too excited about these nationals you speak of and overtrain or overdo anything.
If strength endurance seems to be a problem of your I would highly recommend Olympic lifts especially the 1 arm snatch using a kettlebell or pike pot or even a dumbell if you don't have either of the latter two (Do them high rep with little rest periods). I know you need more strength than endurance but strongman events are made to test both in a man or woman. Good Luck!

bitit: Thanks. As soon as the contest events come out...I plan to go through a full event training session and see which events seem to give me the biggest problems. To win the overall title you have to place in the top 2 or 3 in every single event out of every single competitor. You can't have a bad event and win that one...

Thanks

B - this is from a bb standpoint, but a breakdown or failure ion technique is always the result of some weakness in a muscle group(s). THink about it........

I hear ya...for sure. I rarely train to failure on my events because I really can't on most of them. I have a 320 pound stone which is easy for me, a 600 pound tire (easy), etc...

The failure in my technique is just lack of practice. You can go to my website and see a video of me doing the tire flip with a friend of mine in STL. I am much stronger than he is but he makes it look a lot easier because of his perfect technique.

Time to travel, learn, and ask tons of questions huh?

Thanks man
