help with lockout

crew9

New member
Just got done with the oldschool routine and have gotten some good results. Here's my new routine and just need a little help on picking a exercise for my lockout. I was thinking floor presses because my weakness hits right as the weights half way to lockout. Almost all the other lifts are going to be in the 8 rep range because I'm giving my joints a break from the heavier weights.

Day 1
seated db press 3x8
side laterals 3x8
Squats 3x8 oly highbar style
leg press 2x8
pullthroughs 2x8
leg curls 2x8
calves whatever i feel like doing

Day2 off

Day3
Bench 5x5
Incline 2x8
Dips 2x8
INSERT LOCKOUT movement here
skull crushers 2x8

Day4 off

Day5
Deadlifts 2x8, 1 set of 8 sumo the other conventional
rows 3x8
pullsup with added weight 25lb,35lb,45lb
barbell curls 2x8
reverse curls 21's
calves

Day 6,7 off

Floor press sounds good. I did them close grip the other day and my triceps were screaming after 3 sets.

Floor presses do sound good (although I've never done them, but have read good things here), or close grip board presses.

that's not a bad idea..rep work is good for the tendons and ligaments. if your having trouble between sticking point and lockout..i would go with floor presses, board presses(4 boards at least), and some pin presses(close-grip). tb

honestly guys, ive never felt like floor presses helped my lockout very much. They do however help the bottom of my bench tremendously. Board presses have been the biggest help for my lockout, and lots of hard tricep work.

I've never done floor presses, but I can feel a drastic difference in my lockout strength from adding board presses.
