Help with a rotator cuff injury

I don't know how exactly I hurt it, but after doing my chest on monday, I woke up and my left shoulder was killing me. Behind the blade where the rotator cuff is. I didn't lift on tuesday and wednesday. I did on thursday. It has not stopped hurting since tuesday. I wake up and it is the worst in the morning. It tends to fade away as the day goes on, but I can still feel it. Now I don't know how serious it is, but it hurts real bad in the mornings. I know this injury can be a real bad one to come back from. I leave in February and I need to feel fine by then. Any advice on how to heal it? Anything would be great. Thanks.

You should probably go see a Dr. I had a very similair thing happen to me a few years ago, and it turned out to be an inflamed rotator cuff, which was scraping against the bone inmy shoulder. Very painful. It took months to subside, without lifting. But with your shoulder it could be a number of things, so get it checked out.

Do you sleep with your arms up or over your head - if so stop, keep your arms by your side at night and it should clear up in a few days to a couple weeks.

You should go see a doc to make sure nothing is torn in your shoulder. If you continue lifting you could further injure yourself.

well i would see a doc to see if it is torn. being a ball player i experience lots of shoulder problems.. it is better to hurt in the back then the front.. but from what you say it hurts under the shoulder blade doesnt really sound like rotator cuff. if it is cuff you more than likely will feel it in front or on the outer part of shoulder. thats what i felt when i partially tore mine, but i am not a doc just my experience... i went and got me a book called 7 minute rotator cuff solution, i do it after every workout to make the capsule strong and so far it has helped very much.. this was many years ago and my arm feels great after these workouts..hope you feel better injuries suck... when i work chest it does still hurt me only because when you bench or do incline it really exposes the rotator cuff and puts strain on it.

Heffe, good point. In my younger partying days after sleeping 2-3 days to recover I would always have shoulder problems do to sleeping on them. The pain would usually subside within a three week period.

the rotator cuff is really 4 muscles.....Teres minor, infraspinatous, supraspinatus and subscapularis...i think the best thing to do is see a doc or just treat it like youwould any other muscle pull
success

it's the tendon right behind the rear delt.

if you incline press hurt like a bitch it's not your rotator cuff it's the tendon right under your shoulder blade.............do this exercise to help it along..put your arm out to the side.bring your forearm in(like you were going to flex your bicep).let your forearm drop down to your waste and then back up again.4 sets of 15 twice a day.........................i hope this helps?

success is right........here are a few tidbits

If it hurts cuz you sleep on the painful shoulder, it points to the RC.

If it hurts when you try to lift your arm laterally out from a starting position of arms to your side, it points to RC.

The shoulder is complicated.......it could be lots of things. Go see a doc. MRI is the best way to actually see a tear or swelling. But the treatment is usually the same........rest and gradual rehab. The only way surgery would be an absolute option is with a grade 4 tear, which means it is a complete muscle tear, or a grade 3 tear that hasnt responded to rehab.

Maybe it hurts in the morning because at night you sleep on the injured shoulder. (I have the same problem).
Try sleeping on your back or the other shoulder. It is not normal that you wake up and the shoulder is hurting.
There are guys here on the board taking GH and the injury went away.

Best move - go see an Active Release Technique (ART) specialist. A regular physician is useless. Do a search for ART on the testosterone website.
