thanks, good advice...so let's say its 75 a plate, 300?

anywhere from 150-300.

150 is the minimum.

300 would be if this guy is your bestest bestested bested bro.

depends on how many times u slept with 'em.......lololol

Here are some suggestions:
Co-worker and/or distant family friend or relative: $50-$75
Relative or friend: $75-100
Close relative or close friend: $100-$150

Or if u don't want to give cash, find out where they're registered and get them a gift off their list. You can normally do this on line

I can tell you that *MOST* peeps followed this pretty well at my wedding.

I'd feel bad if I didn't at least cover the dinner settings though, I mean.. it's not even really a gift if you walk away taking more than you gave.

That seems closer to reality to me ... $200-$300 for a not so close friend would make the groom think you're trying to fuck his new bride.

Oh... our plates were 100 bucks each...

not everyone covered their plates... that's 4 sure.

I would go with about maybe 100 dollar cash and a 75 dollar gift cert to a fancy restaraunt near where they live at.

nobody wants presents on their wedding day. they get enough of that crap at the gazillion showers and parties beforehand. they want the cash.

jh1, how are the guests supposed to know the per plate cost? that varies quite a bit.

You estimate.

It's a guess.

yeah, I figure all cash is a bit odd.And buying typical household items is stupid, so why not a fancy dinner for two that they can be together and be romantic with one another....

Fuck that, these people are most likely bleeding money out of every orifice - they appreciate people buying shit that they will need to buy anyway.

I gave my friend and his wife (who I also know) bed sheets (from their list) with a card that said "Since I've slept with you both, I figure this is an appropriate gift". They loved it.

Humor is important

i wonder what percentage of young couples have to foot the entire bill or part of the bill of their wedding themselves? i gather it's a high percentage. those people would probably be happy with cash. fuck I didnt pay a dime for my wedding and all I wanted was cash. but Im a greedy bitch.

Not always true. Most first time wed couples are registered at stores so guest can buy the gifts the need/want the most.

I used to give cash. But, I got tired of seeing them get a divorce.

Now, I pick the Gayest piece of shit on the regestry. (preferably something that will be in site daily)

The last time I bought a huge purple vase/pitcher??? thing. It sits in there living room. He hates it. But, I bring it up everytime so they will feel guilty if they get rid of it. I already told him I get it if they get divorced.lol

people register at stores because that's just what you do. most will get so much crap at showers and parties before the wedding that it's the last thing they want on their wedding day. cash is where it's at.

household items are not stupid if you're just starting out and have none. If the couple has already lived on their own or it's their 2nd marriage, they usually have all they need so cash is a great idea.
