Help losing fat

LosinWeight

New member
I am a 19 year old male weighing 225 and im 6'2''. I want to get my weight down to 190, then I can start working on toning up and building muscle. (I dont want to be a bodybuilder, just look good)

I am wondering what the best way to lose this 35 pounds would be. I have recently started lowering my caloric intake per day.

Are there any supplements that will help with this?
What workout routines would help me lose fat the fastest?

Thanks for any help.

There's no such thing as toning. Toning is what girls call the art of losing fat and gaining muscle, so that they can see "lines."

Do you know your body fat %? It helps to know this before hand, since it's had to know how much you need to lose without knowing how much you have. This will also help you understand how to diet and when. For example, someone at 25% fat will see results much faster, doing damn near anything, than someone around 8% fat, as there's not much left to lose, and the body holds on to it for dear life.

Fat loss is about 99.9999999% diet, IMHO. Of the pro BB and figure folks I'm familiar with, training rarely changes between bulking and cutting...only diet.

Ok, well basically I'm trying to lose the fat for now.
I have no idea what my BF % is. Im a broke college student and cant afford to do a lot of things at the moment.

My BF% is pretty high though I am sure. I havent been doing the excersize that I should have been for the last few years (IE. NONE)

My question I guess is more of...

Should I concentrate on the treadmill if I just want to lose fat?

Any good supplements?

No, concentrate on your diet.

Being a poor college student MAY work in your favor. Depending on what college you go to, if they have an applied physiology lab, you can probably get a caliper and hydro done for little or nothing on campus.

So, what are you puttin' in your pie-hole?

Well my diet alone wont help, since basically all I'm doing all day is sitting in class. When I get home I'm sitting at the computer working.

I figure walking or running on the treadmill might help. I did that this summer and lost almost 20 pounds in about 2 months.

Right now I'm just trying to stop eating at McDonalds and Papa Johns. I've been eating 3 ham sandwiches and a couple bowls of fruit every day.

I need to find a diet plan that is easy to prepare in little time with little or no cooking.

Diet alone, no. However, all things in place, diet will make it or break it.

Just take in less than you put out. It's not rocket science. The days you're burning more, you can get by with eating more. Days you burn less, adjust cals accordingly. To maximize fat loss (vs random "weight" loss), simply keep the protein high, fat moderate, and carbs tailored to need. Carbs are energy. Make sure energy in is less than energy out.

Easy as pie!

You can do it bud, I lost 50lbs over 3.5months in college. Just cut out all Fast food, except one meal on the weekends (to make you feel like you are not dieting too hard). Just sign up for a group fitness class on campus, Im at UK, and they offer like 20 classes at over 3 times for each one, so its easy to find one that suits you, and with all the girls that take classes it was easy to stay motivated. As for diet, go for high protein, keeping carbs under 50g a day, taking protein shakes with you to class to eat/drink every 2.5 hours. T hats what I did, you can PM me for a full email about what all I did to drop the weight.

Hit the weights too. Using a combination of resistance and cardio will accelerate your metabolsim. What worked for me was my weight training and immediately afterwards doing 30 minutes of a hi/low intensinty cardi combo.....sprint/jog. This also suppressed my appetite for hours afterwards.

yeah, bro, second to diet is cardio early in the morning on empty stomach (like treadmill). Although, some people like to do it after weightlifting too, but I personally wouldn't be able too. Like after a grueling leg workout, I'm afraid my legs won't hold me on the treadmill, and I will fall down and embarass myself :D

Cut out fast food, soda, cheese
eat high protein, low carbs
Do some cardio, running, treadmill, walking, etc.
Try to do some weight training, don't worry what the scale says, even if you weigh the same, you could add some muscle, which will help you lose fat, by speeding up your metabolism.
Try to get your body fat percentage tested, that should be your fitness goal, not how many pounds you weigh. How your clothes fit is important., if you can't get a body fat test.
Try playing basketball, tennis, soccer, any sports will help you. Stop eating ham sandwiches, buy tuna, its cheap and is perfect for you, also no mayo. Try Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein, its cheap, low carbs, tastes great, I buy it at massnutrition.com, its 30 bucks for 5 lbs, including shipping. Take one protein shake a day, eat a can of tuna each day. If you listen to me, you should lose 20 lbs by summer, hopefully you will add a bit of muscle too.
