i dropped my laptop and now about 1/4 the screen has a permanent image in it,looks cracked,can I get it fixed or does this mean its fucked?

can be fixed/replaced... but its expensive. Almost worth just buying a new laptop all together. As asked above already, is it under warranty? (hopefully...)

i think its under warranty but its a gateway and that means it gets sent to tennesse to get fixed and im in canada and travel and need this thing,im using it now but have to use a smaller ie browser so i can see shit.

im gonna call in and see if the warranty even covers a retard dropping the laptop,and if so Ill get it shipped,a guy i work with has a lcd monitor he hooks up to his laptop because his screen is fucked too,how hard is that to do if the warranty doesnt cover it?

with a laptop you want a warranty for sure. They are not durable items.

If the warranty is honored it would probably be 2-3 weeks before you saw it back - at the soonest considering you're in Canada.

Buying a new LCD screen is expensive and not worth it in most cases.

it would be nice if gateway could send the part to an authorized place up there and you could just bring your laptop to them for repair so it never has to leave the country.

LCD's are very expensive. I had a laptop and the LCD went out. I had a warranty and it got fixed. They always send a "bill" showing how much it costs. It was like $500. I had a 17 inch LCD though. Most of the time it is cheaper to get a new laptop.

Mainboards and LCS's are the worst things that can break on a laptop. Freaking expensive.
