Heart Problems From Juice

myqe

New member
Hi people,
I'm new to this board, and i'm curious if any of you might have (had) the same problem as me. I used to work out for 2 years straight, and had done 2 steroid cycles. During the second cycle i started getting IRREGULAR HEARTBEATS, and eventually landed in the hospital. They told me I had "ventricular tachycardie". After doing several tests with me (catheters) they still havent found exactly what wuz the cause of it all. All i know is when i do strength training NOT cardio, my heart doesnt seem to like it and starts skipping again. I never want to go to hospital again, but stopping my workouts is NOT an option for me. I would give ANYTHING to be able to lift again, that is why i am asking you guys for advice. Perhaps you know somebody that has had the same problem. Anything would be much appreciated

get yourself on some magnesium glycinate, potassium and coenzyme q10. don't go nuts with the magnesium or potassium, just stick with a 'normal' dose. give these supps a month and then, try a muscle endurance approach to your training. that is, light weight, high reps and very little rest between sets. finally, avoid ALL stimulants at all costs. good luck man and come back and update how you're doing or if you find out something more.

I have some kind of arythmia too. But is different. When i'm working out i feel perfect. But if i'm depressed or worried about that in my workplace or at home, my heart start skipping beats sometimes very hard!...i haven't had since about 1 year ago. I quit drinking coffee. I'm going to use juice now!. I'll be a lab rat.

hey I had a same problem when I was on some andro or maybe this fat loss supplement I had bought at gnc.. i didnt know what I was doing back then and I still dont really kno that much but that used to happen to me whenever I was kinda nervous or sometimes even when I went to sleep and it was pretty damn scary...oh yea and also when I drank alcohol that shit used to kick in pretty hard... and while writing all this I realised I was on some medicine too so maybe its more from that then the stuff I was taking... but im glad its over now

VT usually is a consequence of structural heart disease, with breakdown of normal conduction patterns, increased automaticity (which tends to favor ectopic foci), and activation of re-entrant pathways in the ventricular conduction system. Electrolyte disturbances and sympathomimetics may increase the likelihood of VT in the susceptible heart.

VT can be triggered by electrolyte deficiencies (eg, hypokalemia, hypocalcemia, hypomagnesia).
Use of sympathomimetic agents (from relatively benign caffeine to more potent agents such as methamphetamine or cocaine) may stimulate VT in vulnerable hearts.

Ventricular tachycardia can occur in the absence of apparent heart disease. It can also develop as an early or a late complication of a heart attack, or during the course of cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, myocarditis.

Ventricular tachycardia may not cause symptoms in some people, but may be lethal in others -- it is a major cause of sudden cardiac death.

Here is my advice: Go to a Cardiologist (preferred) or to your physician and have a:

1. Cardiac Enzymes (blood test) done.
2. Get an Echo (ultrasound) of the heart to check for Cardiomyopathy (found in athletes). This could be causing your VT.
3. Get Holter Monitor Test done (you wear it for 24 hours). Wear it while do your normal activities such as weight lifting. This will produce what is going on electrically with your heart. You will need to keep a diary during this 24 hours with the times you did your activities, etc.
4. Also, get an Electrolytes test for (K+, Ca+, etc) to check for imbalances in your system which may also be causing VT.

As I mentioned above, VT can be deadly in some people (a smaller fraction), however, do you want to take the chance that smaller fraction be you? I would hope not. A good Cardiologist will be able to find why VT is happening and tell you what activities such as weight lifting is permissible. VT and Cardiomyopathy is why some athletes die on the field.

Now, I hope I did not scare you to death...just hope to scare you enough to find out what is going on. Good luck and keep me posted.

PS: KARMA is always welcome here!

Of interest, so I thought I would post:

Myocardial infarction, hyperkalaemia and ventricular tachycardia in a young male body-builder.

Department of Cardiology, Manchester Royal Infirmary, UK.

A 31-year-old body-builder taking anabolic steroids, amphetamines, frumil (frusemide and amiloride), and potassium supplements collapsed with a myocardial infarction. His serum potassium was 6.7 mmol/l and he had a run of ventricular tachycardia. He was unaware of the effects of the drugs on the heart.

Thanks alot for your support Geoff.. You seem to be someone that knows alot on this issue. I have read your messages carefully and answered in my other post kinda what happend to me in hospital etc. I appreciate your help

aight guys, i just copy/pasted this stuff from my other post, in case someone missed it:

Well i can tell you i have had several tests done with me. They made about 20 ecgs... that is for every time i landed in the emergency room. The last time i wuz there i got brought by ambulance to the hospital where i spent 3 days in i.c. Later i got transferred to the heart section, and wuz released after a week and the symptoms were gone. 2 weeks later i went in for a couple of tests... They opened one of my veins at the top of my leg and went inside with a catheter. They were inside my heart, and did all tests that can possibly be done. Contrast, electric shocks, the entire thing, and absolutely nothing came out. weeks after that i tried lifting some weights again, and the next day my heart reacted weird to it again (skipping, etc) So i went back to the emergency room, i think in total another 3 times and got sent home every time again, because what they saw wasn't life threatening . A few weeks later i had a 24 hour holter, and also nothing came out of that. I can tell you that I am from the netherlands, and where i live we have some really proffesional doctors, but even they can't seem to find the cause of it all. I am going to get a second opinion, but i'm afraid i already know what the outcome will be, since they have done all possible tests with me. I wish there wuz someone that can tell me where it all comes from. Oh ya, i have a history of drug abuse (cocaine, e, speed), but wuz also tested with "fluoxetine" to see if that could have been the cause of it all. It is some substance they inject to see if your heart reacts strangely to it. Well mine didn't, so that couldn't have been it. What i'm most afraid of is that my bodybuilding days are over... Again, i will do what it takes to find the cause of it, no bodybuilding is no life for me.

MYQE

and geoff, no i did not wear the holter during weight training, but everytime i felt something strange i had to press a little button, and then later the cardiologist could examine what it wuz that i felt... and she told me what she saw wasnt dangerous.
cheers

I believe so geoff, otherwise they would have mentioned it to me. Perhaps i will call my cardiologist about that tomorrow, but i'm sure it wuz allright. Ive been taking the magnesium and potassium and q10 for 2 days now.. I notice that i dont have as much energy as usual (calmer) but then again, i work nightshifts 5x a week, so that also plays a role. I'm gonna keep taking the supplements for a month and see how it works out. In a months time i'm gonna start working out slowely again with low weight and many reps. and gradually build it all up again. And perhaps in the future consider a mild winny cycle or something.... fuck its a shame i'm ALREADY thinking about that, maybe its not such a good idea... problem is i LOVE steroids :D aaw, i dunno, i'll see how everything goes

Thanks Geoff for all the info!!!!

I have a problem similar to myqe....I've done ecg, echo, holter (not while lifting) and of course blood tests. Everything was normal. but my question is wtf i have in my heart!...The difference, i don't have any problem lifting, any problem drinking alcohol....the skipped beats always have started when i'm resting...quiet at work, having dinner at my house, or watching TV before sleep. The first "atack" was about 2 years ago; the coincidence is that the same week i was sleeping very bad, waking up very early, drinking a lot of coffee and having a lot of physical activity. At the end of that week, was the first time this shit showed up. I thought i was going to die...:(

Now i don't have one from about a year ago...and again the coincidence is that it stopped almost at the same time when i stopped drinking coffee...i think i had one about 6 months ago before sleep but it was very smooth...i just took a deep breath, relaxed myself and it stopped. Since then i feel very great.

These are the symptoms of my arythmia:

heart rythm: normal
Blood pressure: normal

Those 2 things are normal. The only difference is that the heart start to skip one beat first. Then beat normal 2 times, then skip anothe. Then skip 1 beat normal, skip 2. and so on....it is very scary. In April 2002 it lasted about 4 hours...i was sweating cold, my hands and my legs were shaking..i could feel the adrenalin on my veins...next day i had a pain on my chest. I think it was the poor heart damaged...:( . Fortunatelly that was the only time it was real hard.

If someone has something similar and have some info i'll appreciate so much if you can share with me...
