How much Dianabol - methandrostenolone - were you taking and were you drinking alcohol?

A good question.

I was taking between 20 - 40 mg daily from memory (it was early -2005). I don't drink alcohol.

I just took them for too long. From memory, over 12 weeks and didn't have any liver function tests done. My diet was not great either as I was living in the Philippines at the time.

Basically I was careless. If I'd followed the rules I probably would have been ok.

I'm posting here to help people realise that things can go wrong, bad things...and to instill the importance of learning the chemistry and getting blood tests.

My liver function tests are all normal. My blood glucose readings are in the pre-diabetic range. Pre-diabetes is very common in people over 40 (I'm 48) so I'm not saying it has anything at all to do with steroid use because I never had any tests before my liver illness.

I have been using a low dose of Andriol (it bypasses the liver) for the last 2 1/2 years now as HRT. I have been considering using a low dose of Sustanon 250...perhaps about 250mg a week...as HRT because it's a lot cheaper than Andriol where I live (Thailand). I've been looking into using human growth hormone - jintropin - for anti-aging, but the cost even in Thailand is prohibitive.

At my age I have to consider many things so the decision to start a course of injectables is not going to be easy...but either way I'm only interested in keeping my testosterone levels in the normal range. I've given up my aspirations of becoming massive and consider fitness and health as better goals.

I hear ya 100%

good to hear everything appears to be OK

During cycle Liver shows elevated reading on blood profile. After cycle readings come back to normal. So that means no liver damage. Never had, but since that is not a poll option I did not vote!

That's the big unknown.

If your liver goes out of whack (elevated readings), does it return to its previous, pre-steroid normal state?

I hope it does, but there's no study to confirm this and studying bodybuilders' livers is never going to be a priority for scientific study.

I was a little concerned when I had a minor bout of elevated bilirubin levels from using parecetamol, to the point of experiencing pruritis, 2 years after I aparently had returned to normal.

This could indicate that my liver may now be more susceptible to the cholestatic condition.

I don't think it's wise to assume anything unless there's some good scientific evidence to back it up.

It's important to consider that whenever the liver profile goes out of the normal range, there is abnorality in the liver as a result of that person's drug use. Who's to say when, or if permanent damage can result. The liver is still a mysterious, highly complex organ which scientists know relatively little about.

We should be careful not to make the mistake of trying to convince ourselves that all is ok, when in fact we don't know.

Most people who get sick from steroids don't rush to post about it on here. Most of the people posting and reading here are probably ok for the most part and are looking for information on what to use and how.

This is the fist time I've even read a forum or anything on steroids in almost 3 years. When you get real sick, you tend to give them up and don't look back.

Yeah, stupidly stayed on anabol for too long and my liver values were outrageous. Thing is I don't drink at all so thought orals would be ok..

I thought pruritis was from uremia? I renal issue? Not liver. maybe I m wrong. I need to look it up.

Orals are Ok as long as you use them for short periods of time. Its like taking tylenol. You can doit eveyday up to 4000mg but after being on it too long can cause your liver values to elevate.

I cant find anywhere where it pruritis is caused by any hepatic involvement. many other reasons. So your pruritis had nothing to do with hyperbilirubin or you taking orals> Not flaming just dont like mis information given out here to my homies.
