Let me tell you that when your liver is damaged, you'll know about it.
Most likely, and this is from my own personal experience:
1. You'll start itching like f@*king crazy all over your body. An itch you can't stop. An itch so bad that you'll end up with bleeding scabs over your hands, feet and legs and other body parts (my balls were also very itchy) when you wake up...if you're lucky enough to fall asleep that is (it's unlikely you'll sleep much and you can't take sleeping tablets because they affect the liver too). An itch so bad that you'll start having suicidal thoughts. They call this systemic pruritis. And guess what? Doctors don't know how to stop it either and don't really know exactly what causes it...only theories (circa 2005). I had this itch for 2 months, day and night...hell was looking great.
2. You can't eat anything without feeling sick...especially fat.
3. Your hard earned muscle will fall off at an incredible rate. Everyone will be startled when they see how skinny you are. I lost 10kg in my first week.
4. You'll feel weaker than a kitten.
5. You'll get a cold sweat when you eat.
6. Your eyes and skin will start glowing a bright yellow. It's so bad you'll be embarrassed to be seen in public because everyone will comment or stare.
7. Your shit will be pale, clay coloured.
8. You'll wonder why you ever bothered to use drugs in the first place.
9. Your doctor will call you an idiot.
This is all compliments of what is called '(drug-induced) cholestasis of the liver'. The yellow skin and shit is called jaundice which is a symptom of cholestasis.
Forget about working if you have a steady job...that won't be possible. You'll be an invalid for as long as it takes for your liver to recover and fortunately drug-induced cholestasis is reversible in most cases.
Basically your liver stops processing (excreting) bilirubin which accumulates in your skin and makes you turn yellow along with causing the itch. My itch only disappeared when my bilirubin was within normal range...I now start to itch when my bilirubin reaches the high end of normal. I discovered this 6 months ago when I took paracetamol for a few days which sent my bilirubin levels up and started an itch.
Dianabol was the most likely cause. Nolvadex is also suspected of causing liver irregularities so maybe the combination of the two helped it along. I also was injecting sustanon (250 mg e5d) and using proviron.
As an added side "benefit" I discovered that my blood glucose levels were through the roof when I tested for it alongside the liver function tests. I had to start taking diabetic medicine to lower my BG levels. Whether this was a result of my liver damage, or a result of my steroid use I'll never know. Now that I'm clean, I no longer require diabetic medicine but my levels are showing pre-diabetes.
If you guys want to play Russian roulette with your body chemistry, do yourselves a big favour and look past temporary muscle gains and learn something about the liver. When your liver has packed it in, so do you. You only get one liver; there's no such thing as a liver transplant.
If you do permanently damage your liver, you'll end up skinnier than your non-bodybuilding friends, which of cause will be the least of your worries.
