Have you ever put Hydrogen Peroxide in your ear?

there are certain candles you can get at herb stores, i dont know what they are called
you put some ear drops in the ears to soften the buildup, and then you put the candle in, light one end and keep trimming the candle down until its almost gone, and it acutally pulls the buildup out of the ears
alot safer than q tips and peroxide, except catching your head on fire hehe
my mom is a herb fanatic, and these things do work

No Peroxide is water based.

When all the bubbling and shit is done you have water left which breeds bacteria and you start at square one.

Patients should know that rinsing the ear canal with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) results in oxygen bubbling off and water being left behind-wet, warm ear canals make good incubators for growth of bacteria. Flushing the ear canal with rubbing alcohol displaces the water and dries the canal skin. If alcohol causes severe pain, it suggests the presence of an eardrum perforation.

My x always used them and they did work.

Yup. I had a sinus infection from hell a few years ago and my ears got all plugged up - I had 100% blockage in both ears. I thought I was doing deaf, lol.

Went to the Urgent Care, they dumped peroxide in my ears a few tiems, and BOOM it was all better.

its painful because he is using st8 with out mixing it with water it should be a 1/1 ratio

There is a better and safer option available.
Go the the pharmacy and buy ear drops for wax in the ear. Pour 4-5 drops in ear while lying down on side. Let it work for at least 5 minutes before changing position. It works by softening and dissolving the wax.
Do that twice a day for 1 week.

Then flush ear gently with water by using a syringe to remove any residual wax.

No, you shouldn't put any water based product in your ears.

Read my post above.

use vinegar. the vinegar will change the ph balance of the ear and the wax is gone.

The "candling" thing is total bs, BTW. I took part in a clinical trial because my mom (another naturopath nut) and I were arguing about it and we found a study to participate in. It draws NOTHING out of the ear.

Yes. You put a few drops in, lay on your side and let it run down the canal.
It clears wax and local infections.

Should the pain and obstruction last more than 36 hours and two of these "self-help" treatments, go to a Dr. Ear infections are painful and will linger if not treated properly.

I always heard that the "wax" stuff that is supposingly sucked out by the "wind funnel" from the burning is nothing more than part of the candle itself.

pouring peroxide will remove the wax, but the drying out of your ear lining will release new fluid that dried into new wax

Therapeutic use

Hydrogen peroxide has been used as an antiseptic and anti-bacterial agent for many years. While its use has decreased in recent years with the popularity of better-smelling and more readily-available over the counter products, it is still used by many hospitals, doctors and dentists in sterilising, cleaning and treating everything from floors to root canal procedures.

Recently, alternative medical practitioners have advocated administering doses of hydrogen peroxide intravenously in extremely low (less than one percent) concentrations for hydrogen peroxide therapy — a controversial alternative medical treatment for cancer. However, according to the American Cancer Society, "there is no scientific evidence that hydrogen peroxide is a safe, effective or useful cancer treatment." They advise cancer patients to "remain in the care of qualified doctors who use proven methods of treatment and approved clinical trials of promising new treatments." [5] Internal use of hydrogen peroxide has a history of causing fatal blood disorders, and its recent use as a therapeutic treatment has been linked to several deaths.[6],[7]

Hydrogen peroxide is Generally Recognised As Safe (GRAS) as an antimicrobial agent, an oxidizing agent and more by the US Food and Drug Administration.[8] Hydrogen peroxide can also be used as a toothpaste when mixed with correct quantities of baking soda and salt.[9] Like benzoyl peroxide, hydrogen peroxide is also sometimes used in the treatment of acne.

Hydrogen peroxide is also seen in some alternative medicine treatments. Joseph Mercola recommends pouring small amounts into the ear canal as a method of treating colds.

Hydrogen peroxide is also used as an emetic in veterinary practice.[10]

I have no idea who Joseph Mercola is.
