has anyone been over the border since 9/11? Especially TJ.
is it as easy as it used to be? or are they searching everyone? how long are the lines at the border? I need to go, but i have no idea what to expect this time.(and that makes me nervous!) Thanks for any input.

It's no fun...I waited 45min. in my car...

Not many searches but there was alot of talking and looking through windows...

Bro, you live in San Diego.....Go take a road trip(or a short stroll in your case) & check it out & then YOU TELL US huh?! Just make sure that the first trip is a "dry run", so you can test the waters.

I agree with roaddog, I went to Mexico when I lived in Louisiana and it wasn't a joke before 11SEP. I walked across and payed a runner, but nerves were still racking. I heard it is much easier to go by car though. Anyway, like DOG said, test the water first.

Roidog and others are right. Just walk over and take a cab to some places or walk there. Then walk back and see.
If you are worried about getting busted just find an MD and leave your stuff there. Most will charge you nothing to leave your gear there and about $2.00 (bring your own pins) for a shot.

I'm back and forth daily, the walk through has gotten worse
metal detectors and baggage xray. the drive through changes
daily.Sometimes there are extra vehicle checks or secondary
inspection. sometimes drug dogs checking around the outside of vehicles. overall there have been no problems pretty easy!

Yep this is a good idea!! I have driven across twice since 9/11 and can tell you they are tighter, but only superficially. I had no problems except with a customs agent with serious attitude both times. I would suggest as the others above have, see for yourself first it will give you confidence or not.
Price wise things have changed very little since 9/11 everything is + or - $2...
