Yes it is 10 Nov, just getting an early start...

Well, we are now 229 years old and ready to kick ass once again...Semper Fi brothers and sisters!

Hung out with some at the club, one Major (female Marine and not bad looking at all) kept using the men's head as a short cut from the outside to the inside. Got a lot of handshakes from the civilians, etc. Even the Army was present in dress uniform to help celebrate Semper Fi to the Army as well!

Slayer concert going on up here on the 10th. me and another former Marine talked about hitting it up, but i dunno if we're going or not.

We had our ball last night. Open bar. I started drinking rum and coke from when I got there like it was the last rum I'd ever get. Had about 4 before the guest speaker even started. 8 by the time dinner was done. Then the shots. If you guys can post pics for me I'll send them.



I only have my camera's pics right now. I'll get the ones from the rest of the unit in a few days.
 
I was on the west coast, so i went to 3 Marine Corps balls in Nevada. First one was in Vegas, but i was underage so it sucked. Next one was in Laughlin, and i not only got completely beyond shitfaced, but i blew more money than intended. Had one in Palm Springs that wasn't too bad. I was seeing 4 of everyone/everything for a while in a bar afterwards. Last one was in Primm, NV and again, i was completely shitfaced and utterly broke by the time i left.

Marines + Alcohol + Gambling = a bunch of hungover and broke Marines :lmao:

LOL. My buddy is in 29 stumps and they're having his in Vegas.

They didn't card anyone last night, but had people at the door not letting drunks [read everyone except my DD] drive. This was the second Ball I've been to in 3 years. Missed the first one b/c I was in bootcamp, 2 weeks from graduation. Last year's I was in Okinawa and it sucked. All tightasses. Last night's was a blast. Once I shake this hangover I'll post more in depth stories I'm sure.

It was "aight"....as good as a ball can be when you are sitting next to people you hate, like, dislike etc.....

Overall it was pretty smooth......some funny moments......the CSM droned on and on when he spoke......man that dude was a monotone nightmare! :rolleyes:

People were dropping like flies from this dude's speech....we had the Air Force chain of command there also, as they are the ones we were working with for the duration of this mission.

I'm glad I took pics......some of that shit was pretty funny.....

At least you had as a good a time as possible with people you hate. Ours was an E-5 and below, so it was mostly just a bunch of buddies. Our guest speaker was a hardcore mother fucker. In 'Nam he low crawled to an enemy machine gun pit with nothing but a bayonet and a grenade. The story teller says "Where he killed the first enemy troop with his bayonet, the second one fled, but MstGnySgt <forget his name> chased him down and killed him as well." He got a Navy Cross for it, and then when he goes to speak all he downplayed it, and gave the credit to the rest of his buddies who were with him.

I almost got into a fight with a Marine last night. He took his sister as his date and she hit on me. I didn't know the guy so I told him to get the fuck out of my face. By the time he grew balls to step up to me it was mostly my unit left, so he decided to let it go.

Army vs Marines...I like it!

We have had JD Hayworth speak, had a Sgt in the color gaurd throw up during his speech almost onto the 1st sgt's wife (they are my neighbors) had a friend and her daughter there. First time out with a Marine, she got the whole myth of the Corps in one night!

marines who get the opportunity to go to Ranger School actually get to celebrate it (with cake) during the school. not just do the marines get cake, but everyone else does as well. ask anyone who went to ranger school how precious food is there.

75th and skywalker, how many pounds did you lose during ranger school?

Those bring back some good memories. This will be my first year not going to a ball since 1998. I'm definitely going to miss it. It's amazing how much you miss the Corps when you're out.

Congratulations Chesty! I know how seriously you jarheads take this day. It is an awesome thought that Marines are fighting and dying on this very day.

I got some buddies over there, but haven't heard from them since August. Another buddy just came back last month. Said he saw some crazy shit pulling support.

I volunteered to go over with a detachment in Feb, but they denied me b/c I hold a simple billet.
