Hanoi Jane - Is all this true??

Years later when the released POWs described the torture and degradation they really did suffer at the hands of the North Vietnamese, Fonda called them "hypocrites and liars."

Those facts are not under dispute.

Thanks. I could not have said it better myself.

this isn't necessary at all. Ryan is entitled to his opinion without childish insults.

Aint that right Wodin?

Jane Fonda reflects the best of America----Americans dissenting against their government when their government does stupid things....i.e. getting involved in Vietnam.

I applaud Jane Fonda's years of public service to our nation.

Ryan.

You have to be kidding. Fonda did what she did because she wanted the Commies to win, plain and simple. She believed in socialist totalitarianism. Whether she still does or not, I don't know...she seems to have embraced capitalism pretty aggressively later in life.

No matter how one felt about the American involvement in Vietnam, it's entirely possible to respect anti-war protesters who do so consistently and out of noble beliefs. Case in point: Joan Baez, who protested against the war but ALSO spoke out against the North Vietnamese government (both during and after the war, when they became the government of the reunited Vietnam) for their lack of regard for human rights.

When asked about the behaviour of the Vietnamese Commies, Fonda once said something to the effect of "I don't criticize socialist governments"

Oh yes, that's the stance of a fine supporter of peace and human rights, a true asset to our nation.

Well that does it. You mother fucker. You are such a piece of shit Ryan. I swear this to you now, if we ever meet (i frequent ATL ) i am going to tear that little pencil you call an arm off and stab you with it.

i believe later jane fonda apologized, as if to admit what she did was wrong. the story that people tell me that actually were living and following it was that she was just to stupid to UNDERSTAND what she had REALLY done. she sounds like a piece of shit to me.

Finally, instead of focusing on Ms. Fonda's irrelevant past, why not focus on what she has done over the last couple of decades?

Ms. Fonda has been a staunch defender of a woman's right to privacy/right to choose; she has also been a major advocate for assisting teen mothers and women with cancer.

the good that one does should always outweigh the bad. Unfortunately, Ms. Fonda's critics live not only in the past but with misguided anger as well.

I'm finished responding to these harsh attacks on Ms. Fonda's character. Enjoy the assault as it will get you no where---Ms. Fonda will continue to be remembered as both a faithful public servant and as a fine actress.

carry on...

Ryan.

Ryan, if what she has done in these past decades that you wish us to focus on is relevant, then certainly what she did before that is just as relevant, if not more so...

Fuck Jane Fonda...this bitch disgusts me whether the slips of paper thing is true or not.

agreed - she's probably yet another I'm-so-special hollywood type that mistakes being widely known with being important.

still, I don't know of any intelligence requirement in the law against treason - plenty of stupid idiots in prison too dumb to understand the ramifications of their actions - she should be in there with them.

Lest you forget Ryan,

"Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it."

It would appear that you consider both you and your heros above reproach and not in need of heeding to life's lesson. I believe vanity describes your defense.
