Hanoi Jane - Is all this true??

Jane Fonda reflects the best of America----Americans dissenting against their government when their government does stupid things....i.e. getting involved in Vietnam.

I applaud Jane Fonda's years of public service to our nation.

Ryan.

You can like her all you want Ryan, I think putting her arm in your avatar is a bit much though.

This statement proves that the Refreshments were right in their "Banditos" song's line that goes, "because everybody knows the world is full of stupid people". I am sorry to flame you but you deserve it for that statement. No wonder you think Bill Clinton was such a wonderful president. And another thing stop referring to Bill Clinton as President Clinton:: NEWS FLASH:: he is no longer president thanks God.

lol-go back to History class

Exactly, I completely agree with you. Most anyone with any common sense was against the war in Vietnam, even the best educated. There are draft dodgers from both the Republican and Democratic party who opposed the war by simplying not going.

Jane Fonda's act is no more culpable than the thousands of draft dodgers actions were. This is simply an attempt to attack a woman who has done a great deal for women's issues in our country simply because her critics 1) disagree with her agenda, and 2) because she is a convenient escape goat for a lost "cause."

Your attacks on women are deplorable.

Ryan.

kinda off subject here...

Jane Traitor has a apartment in Atlanta.. she was living in The Fulton Cotton Mill Lofts when I was there about 2 years ago (she was building a house) . She used to stop and talk with my friends wife. When I figured out what kind of car she had. (Infinity SUV) I used to blow a big nasty lungie on the windshield once a week or more.

To dispise someone would not come close to my hatred for what she did. I think we should put her and John Walker together in the same cage and move them to the Veterans Memorial in DC.... let some cracked out Vietnam vets have at them.

decem and dgreen - I agree with both of you

Vietnam was a poorly conceived and executed war, and it wasn't worth the life of even one US soldier. It's not unpatriotic to criticize it or the loss of US lives. however, that is not the same as condemning the soldiers, who were following orders, and many of whom were forced to serve. blaming the soldiers for the war is just plain stupid and despicable.

fonda went far beyond criticising the war - she actually SUPPORTED the enemy and used her fame to turn the public against their own soldiers, which was, besides being treasonous, vile and disgusting.

perhaps even worse is ryanh, who has the audacity and insensitivity to support this act even given the benefit of hindsight and historical perspective. that is truly inexcusable.

Ryan,

I think that we are arguing two issues here. Do I hate Jane Fonda for opposing the war in Vietnam, even speaking out nationally about it? No. I do, however have complete disdain for the fact that she actively took part in concealing the torture and killing that the Vietnamese were inflicting upon POW's. I firmly believe that hundreds of POW's would have come home years earlier if not for the efforts of Hanoi Jane.

I don't necessarily agree in our involvment in Vietnam, but I think that Jane Fonda is just as guilty of war crimes as the officers of the Viet Kong. Draft dodgers did nothing to further the suffering and death of American soldiers, doctors, nurses, priests, and missionaries. That is where the difference lies, and that is way Jane Fonda is one of the most dispicable Americans I have ever seen.

A group of POWs which included a Col. Larry Carrigan were brought out to visit with Fonda. According to fonda walked the line, shaking each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like "Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?" and "Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?" Many of the POW's were listed as missing in action so to identify themselves to American authorities, they each wrote their Social Security numbers on small pieces of paper and slipped them to Fonda as she greeted them. To their horror, after Fonda finished meeting them, she turned to the North Vietnamese commanding officer and handed him the POW's pieces of paper. In the beatings that followed, three American POW's died and Col. Carrigan nearly died.

I wouldn't piss on jane fonda if she was on fire..
