What you think about just azelic acid bro...? I mean Minoxadil is meant only for the rear head circle area...from what it says on the box. Also keep in mind that i dont have a hairloss problem this is for prevention only...as a precaution.

I dont want to get hairloss from using some of these products. I wonder if it would be fine to use that 5% azelic acid without sides.
I would like to add this to Nizoral as a precaution......but i dont want any liver etc sides inclding hairloss caused by unneeded treatment.

What do you think?

I don't think you'd get any sides. Its actually pretty mild stuff, the alcohol is the strongest part. It seems to work just as well at preventing hairloss everywhere on my head. I can't say its really worth the money for me unless its a cycle that would definitely kill my hair though. If you aren't very prone to hairloss I would just stick to nizoral/nioxin personally, that combo seems to work OK.

Minoxadil is meant for only the rear circle region of the head. Not anywhere else.

When the makers of minoxidil were first testing it, they did so only on the crowns of those participating. It was proven, within certain parameters, to actually increase hair growth there. In order for them to be able to state on their labels that minoxidil increased hair growth anywhere else on the head, they would have had to spend another fortune testing it in those areas. They decided further testing was not worth the expense as long as they could continue to state that test proved it increased hair growth on the crown.

That doesn't mean it won't work anyplace else except the crown, only that they haven't tested other areas of the head because of the expense involved.

Great info brother...k your way.

Now if someone could tell me how to get a hold of 5% Azelic Acid. I take it the doc needs to write me up a script?

Awesome info duck man. I appreciate it. K your way. You guys have helped me a lot. Some excelent info in this thread!

What i still need to find out is are there any sides to using minoxidil/azelic acid? Liver/Kidneys....etc. Can this be harmfull to my hair and cause me to loose hair if i use it for prevention/as a precaution rather than someone who is using it because their hair is thining?

Any MD oppinion is apperciated.

PS: Duckman do you know if they have Azelic Acid alone?
I dont think i would need the minoxidil if i have more than enough hair.

I don't know if they have Azelic acid alone. It may be worth contacting them.

As far as sides, they would be the same as Rogaine. With Rogaine (minoxidil) you may have some initial shedding as this is normal. It's the hairs that were about to fall out anyway. Then a new, stronger hair grown in it's place. You'll notice small clear hairs growing that eventually grow into thick hair that is the same color as the rest of the hair on your head.
