Foxie...its an anti-inflamatory. Yes its primary use is dandruff. But it helps with states of inflamation on the scalp which cause shedding.

No it does not cause hair loss.

It is not anti-inflammatory effect that prevents hair loss.
Technically, it is only approved for dandruff.
Dandruff is not cause of hair loss.
Nizoral 2% also has some anti-androgen effect (I have read the original study from 1980's).
Probably when used alone, it has only a modest effect. But it may prevent any further shedding, and may be more effective when used in combination with something else.

The anti-inflamatory effect prevent hair loss more than the anti-androgenic effect from what i have heard.
