sorearms, my man, check this out.

baldness is in my family, dad was bald by 31, my older brothers are going bald. ive been losing my hair for ten years, here lately a lot more shedding.

i came to the conclusion i was going for transplants, mind you i still had a lot of hair but losing it, receding and on top. i was kind of bummed cause im not going to let it happen even if i had to get transplants.

heres what i put together to combat it. and im not gonna post scientific research, studies or whatever to back any of this up. ill leave that to the guru's.

first thing i did was purchase some finasteride 5mg from here, http://www.inhousepharmacy.com/generics/fincar.html
it will get to your door in approx 7 days.
the next step is to go to the pharmacy and buy a pill splitter. you will cut the 5mg pills either into 1/4 or 1/6. i did 1/6 for awhile and then got tired and now do 1/4.
1/4 = 1.25mg per dose
1/6 = approx .88mg per dose
go with the 1/6 for awhile, it should be fine.
you get 30 pills for about 32$.
30X6=180 doses. 180 days for 32$

next find some generic rogain online. its all over the net. the 5%. or if you want to pay a little more and pay for dr. lee's script get the 12 or 15%. they say it works better on the frontal area than the 5%.

next buy some 2% nizerol from here, http://www.granvillewellness.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=1592
im not gonna argue which is better 1% or 2%, bottom line is the 1% at the pharmacy is the same price as the 2% online. might as well go with the 2%.

next buy you some nioxin package, shampoo and spray in conditioner. its about 20$ at the store. you can buy it online im not sure if its cheaper.

now this is my regimine that definitely worked for me.

i take one dose of finasteride daily. morning or night. without fail. like i said split it into 1/6.

i take a shower before work. i wash my hair with my regular shampoo to get it clean. because you dont want to use the expensive nizerol to clean, just to medicate. after i wash my hair i apply the nizerol to my scalp, not the hair. it takes a lot less to do this if you wash with shampoo first. i gently message my scalp to lather it up. and i just apply to the top of my head, not the sides and back. although some will get there.

then i proceed to wash my body and frank and beans. after several minutes or longer depending on if im in a hurry i rinse it out. then apply some conditioner about twice a week.

i wash with nizerol daily.

next i blow dry my hair. then i apply my generic rogain(minoxidol, or whatever). it says 1mil, i usually do a slight bit less because i will use it again at the end of the day. i rub the dropper over the top of my head to the areas i need it. it runs down sometimes but you will get better at applying it with practice. then i lightly dry it with the blower.

then before bedtime i apply the minoxidol again, so thats twice a day.

that spray in conditioner, the nioxin spray, i use that whenever to condition my hair. real easy to use and anytime. just spray and comb thru and dry.

the nioxin shampoo. once maybe twice a week i will substitute that for the nizerol treatment. it seems to condition more. but i put my money on nizerol for real treatment.

finasteride 1 dose a day.
nizerol every day after shampooing.
minoxidol twice a day.
nioxin shampoo once maybe twice a week
nioxin spray in conditioner whenever, its a nice touch and makes your hair feel thicker and softer.

your hair will go thru changes for about two months. its almost like this treatment kills off some of it. but it starts a new growth cycle.

someone mentioned something about nizerol changing the texture of thier hair, true but thats why you use the nioxin shampoo once a week plus a regular conditioner at least eod. and also use the nioxin spray in conditioner. and if your going out on the town, i dont use the nizerol that night and ill use a good conditioner and my hair looks and feels fantastic, no shit.

i not only stopped my hair loss i reversed it. no shit, it worked. im extremely happy with the results. took about three solid months of treatment but now it seems to be regrowing real well. i have more hair than i did two years ago. its even coming back in my temple area which is said to be the hardest to regrow.

if you add this treatment up its not that expensive for the year. hopefully this will cease all hair loss till they come up with something really good.

i think omega mentioned adovart or something like that. its suppossed to be better than finasteride(propecia) but its a lot more expensive, since they dont have a generic brand yet. they will though after a few years. if you can afford that it might be the way to go. its said to be better and work better on the temple area. i might give it a try. its on the same website as the one i linked above for the finasteride.

good luck and dont give up. have patience, i almost gave up even after using this treatment but here recently im damn glad i didnt. my wife has been making a lot of comments about it. its definitely noticable.

nothing is as important as my hair thats why i use this treatment religiously.

and ive recently started a small dose cycle consisting of prop, sus, and eq. my hair has only gotton better.
thanks bud

There is no history of baldness in my family, but I have been thinning on the front, specially the "power alleys" and top the last couple of years. Doesn't look that bad yet, but I also don't want to let it get there. So I'm going to give the nizoral a try for a bit. If that alone doesn't help it's good to know there are options, specially ones with first hand accounts of success.

how does your treatment affect your libido?

i never really noticed a libido effect but do think it may have slowed it a bit and ive heard others have that effect. good luck with just nizerol.

Spongebob....what you posted is an excelent regimen for balding people. I would like to know however what would be appropriate for prevention. I dont want to be taking any medications oraly, and do not want to be spending more than a few minutes per day to implement this regimen.

Nizoral, Nioxin is in. Would you guys recomend to go further for prevention....i thought Nizoral targets DHT. Now i hear some talk about Rogaine......what exactly does Rogaine do?

well its been awhile since ive read up on the exact mechanism of nizerol, but i do know it helps as an anti-inflamatory on the scalp. if i were you and looking for prevention i would use the nizerol and nioxin the way i use it. it doest take time at all for that.

if you wanna take it a step further without meds then use the minoxidol(rogain). minoxidol is the only topical solution approved by the fda to combat hairloss, if that means anything to you. it fights dht at the scalp, whereas the oral(propecia) inhibits the production of dht.

Minoxadil is meant for only the rear circle region of the head. Not anywhere else.

Thanks for info goes to texas BB

Azelaic acid 5%

Proven to inhibit up to 100% of DHT where applied

Description: Azelaic acid is a naturally occurring saturated dicarboxylic acid with the chemical name of 1,7-heptanedicarboxylic acid and a molecular weight of 188.22. Azelaic acid is a dietary component of whole grain cereals and animal products.

Clinical Pharmacology: The exact mechanism of action of azelaic acid is not known. The antimicrobial action may be attributable to inhibition of microbial cellular protein synthesis. Azelaic acid at high concentrations is bactericidal against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermis and possesses bacteriostatic properties against a variety of aerobic microorganisms, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans. In vitro, azelaic acid acted as a scavenger of oxy radicals and inhibits a variety of oxidoreductive enzymes including 5-alpha reductase, the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT. Azelaic acid (0.1 to 3.0 mmol/l) has been shown to produce a competitive concentration dependent inhibition of 5-alpha reductase activity in homogenates of human foreskin. Azelaic acid is being studied for potential antimycotic and antiviral properties. The multiple actions of azelaic acid cause a normalization of keratinization and a decrease in the free fatty acid content of skin surface lipids.

Pharmacodynamics: Following a single application to human skin, 3 to 5% of the azelaic acid penetrates into the strateum corneum (up to 10% is present in the dermis and epidermis). There is negligible cutaneous metabolism after topical application. Approximately 4% of topically applied azelaic acid is systemically absorbed and mainly excreted unchanged in the urine. The half-life is approximately 12 hours after topical dosing, indicating percutaneous absorption rate-limited kinetics. After topical treatment with azelaic acid, plasma concentration and urinary excretion are not significantly different from baseline levels.

Contraindications: Azelaic acid solutions or lotions are contraindicated in individuals who have shown hypersensitivity to any of their components.

Warnings: There have been isolated reports of hypopigmentation after use of azelaic acid, although there is no depigmenting effect on normal melanocytes.

Precautions: If sensitivity or severe irritation develops with the use of Azelaic Acid treatment should be discontinued. The most common adverse reactions occurring in approximately 1-5% of patients were pruritis, burning, stinging and tingling, usually at the start of treatment and may last 5 to 20 minutes, especially if the skin is inflamed or broken. The adverse effects commonly subside if treatment is continued. Other adverse reactions such as erythema, dryness, rash, peeling, irritation and dermatitis were reported in less than 1% of patients. The following additional adverse experiences have been rarely reported: worsening of asthma, vitilago pigmentation, hypertrichosis and reddening (signs of keratosis pilaris). Note: azelaic acid will consistently lighten hyperpigmented skin (skin that is daker than normal for a given individual) but will not typically lighten skin beyond its normal color. Rarely, patients with dark complexions may notice hypopigmentation of skin. There are no systemic adverse effects.

Considerations: Azelaic acid is normally found in the human diet and is not considered to be a carcinogenic substance. Mutagenicity studies are negative and animal studies have shown no adverse effects on fertility or reproduction. Human problems have not been reported during pregnancy.

What do you guys think?.....woudl this be safe for prevention without sides....anyone use this?...where can it be purchased?

I use Xandrox if I'm gonna run any SERIOUS hair-killer gear. Its 5% Azelaic acid and 5% Minoxidil. It definitely helps, especially if you also use nizoral. You can buy it here: http://www.minoxidil.com/
A bottle costs about $35 and lasts me about a month. You need to fill out an "online consultation", then you can order it.
