Gym Closing

The gym i have been going to for 6 years is closing down. They cant compete with the commercial gyms around the area anymore. What really sucks is i dont pay anything for a membership cause i do electrical work for the guy when he need some shit done. And what REALLY sucks is i just put in a 24 hour access about a month ago. You know how hard it is to find a gym with that? I started there weighing 180 pounds, not knowing a fucking thing with arms like a wet noodle. Its really sad that all the mom and pop gyms are getting shit on by the big ones. Fuck i really dont even know how much memberships are anymore. Sad Sad Sad.

That sucks. I would expect to pay at least $40/month for a membership, or something around $500/yr. That's not for one of the big ones either...

smaller gyms are way to expensive now a day, atleast in my area. I check out a few small gyms down the street or across town and they all wanted 50-100 and month. Why would I do that when I could go to a large place with more equipment, and the cost is 10-30 a month?? I know I have to deal with more people but the savings is too much to pass up.

Sucks man, luckily i don't have to pay a gym membership because the one back home i tell people i train at when i go to my comps so i get to train there free and the one when im at school i was an employee for like a day then they never gave me hours and still let me come in for free when ever i want, although i am one of probably 3 people in the whole place that shifts weights nobody else does. That may be why they let me go for free, advertising.

That sucks, big chain gyms are taking over, and the fees they charge are rediculous. And on top of that, most are trying to get rid of free weight's altogether ad replace them with machines. They don't want you to make any noise, no deadlift. no squatting. They don't want any real lifting.

I am lucky to have found a gym that is on the verge of extinction. Membership fees aren't high at all, they have a tone of free weight's and encourage big lifts like deads, squats, even ahve some strongman stuff in the summer. Gyms like that are hard to find these days.
