Guy that sued tobacco company for $3B only got $100M

Why in the hell can you sue and win because you smoked cigarettes? It says right on the fucking package that it will kill you!
I have legitimate respiratory problems caused by breathing my dad's second hand smoke when I was a kid. If I sued over this I probably wouldn't win a damn thing!

it was not this way back in the days. smoking was touted as being good for you. tobacco companies restricted information on the deadly effects of cigarrete smoke, and the compunds that can be made from igniting natural ingerdients. even when a scientist had the courage to try and demonstarte the addictive effects/health problems, the topbacco companies flatly denied this, the government didnt really say too much on it. plus the aggressive advertising (now being used on third world)

nicotine is as addictive as heroin, and in long term health, worse for u. heroins illegal

Too bad the judge didn't throw the ridiculous case out.

I agree that cigarettes are evil and cigarette companies are the work of the devil, but no one forced that dumb peon to smoke himself to death. I don't see how a warning label that said "WARNING THIS PRODUCT WILL KILL YOUR ASS EVENTUALLY" wasn't enough of a hint.

collegeguy, I think the warning labels have been on them for at least 30 years. I'll bet none of these people that are suing tried to quit once the warning labels were put on the packages.
