two things in life i'm addicted to
weed and nicotine
one or the other, they are interchangeable
when i quit weed, i fiend for nicotine...and vice versa
done with weed, staring at a can of fresh nicotine.
the prospect of going the rest of my life without either is daunting and depressing :(
watch i'll put all this time into quiting and i'll die in a auto accident next week
but if i don't quit i'll end up with mouth cancer by the age of 40
:(
argggggggggggggg

why would you want to quit weed? Unless it is for work, I say enjoy!

Try just doing it (or both) just on the weekends. That will give you something to look forward to as a reward for the workweek and cutting back.

because i am a weed addict in the truest sense
i start off slow and moderate but it always turns into a whole day affair, everyday.
i just can't moderate myself, much like a booze hound can't control himself
and plus i'm getting random tests...yeah i could fake them but i'm getting tired of all the games and deceit invovled in that, i wanna do it honestly.
i got some grizz that is staring me in the face right now

im not a weed smoker but i would try give up the nicotine first brother, you smoke ciggs or just use the pills/gum?

Thanks bro, I've spent the past year (coming April) with my closest Uncle going thru lung cancer treatment. Now I know why they call it "battling cancer".

It's easier than you think to just put it down, turn that energy into making yourself a fit machine.

smokeless tobacco

real popular here, esp amongst athletes/outdoor types

oh yeah
available everywhere, real common (proly not in metro areas though)
it's the supposive safe alternative to smoking...you pinch it between your check and gum and suck on it.
real nasty but pleasureable...it would be a big hit in rural aussieland i'm sure...but the EU bans it for some reason, except in scandanvia

go get you some gum, candy, suckers, etc, it may take bags of the shit, that's what I hear anyway... I'd put the can in the car or something.

From cigarettes, right?

I've yet to see a non-cigarette smoker die from lung cancer in my personal experiences.

I'm sure you know more than the medical community, however I'll cite a recent reference.

1: Eur Respir J. 2008 Feb;31(2):280-6. Links
Cannabis use and risk of lung cancer: a case-control study.Aldington S, Harwood M, Cox B, Weatherall M, Beckert L, Hansell A, Pritchard A, Robinson G, Beasley R; Cannabis and Respiratory Disease Research Group.
Medical Research Institute of New Zealand, Wellington, New Zealand.

The aim of the present study was to determine the risk of lung cancer associated with cannabis smoking. A case-control study of lung cancer in adults <or=55 yrs of age was conducted in eight district health boards in New Zealand. Cases were identified from the New Zealand Cancer Registry and hospital databases. Controls were randomly selected from the electoral roll, with frequency matching to cases in 5-yr age groups and district health boards. Interviewer-administered questionnaires were used to assess possible risk factors, including cannabis use. The relative risk of lung cancer associated with cannabis smoking was estimated by logistic regression. In total, 79 cases of lung cancer and 324 controls were included in the study. The risk of lung cancer increased 8% (95% confidence interval (CI) 2-15) for each joint-yr of cannabis smoking, after adjustment for confounding variables including cigarette smoking, and 7% (95% CI 5-9) for each pack-yr of cigarette smoking, after adjustment for confounding variables including cannabis smoking. The highest tertile of cannabis use was associated with an increased risk of lung cancer (relative risk 5.7 (95% CI 1.5-21.6)), after adjustment for confounding variables including cigarette smoking. In conclusion, the results of the present study indicate that long-term cannabis use increases the risk of lung cancer in young adults.

That's a shitty attitude.

and yay another study stating if you abuse something it's bad! Who would've thought?

So did your uncle smoke cigarettes or not?

of course, new evidence every day bro - that is all I'm saying - that is a well conducted study and most medical communities are not advocacy research groups or there would be no funding.

that was from Medline, not an advocacy site.

IF I recall correctly, Beverly Sills, the Opera singer, died from lung cancer and she NEVER smoked in her life. I freaked when I read that in her Obit. in the paper.

Vag, stop chewin OR smokin herb babe. :)

You can get lung cancer and never even inhaled smoke in your life.

All I am saying is eveybody I know who had lung cancer smoked cigarettes like crazy.

Can you get lung cancer from smoking weed? Sure, but I do not feel it's as bad as some want you to believe.

Many just assume, or repeat what they've "heard".

I like guns. I also carry a gun. Do I aim it loaded at my own head and pull the trigger? Nope!

I think smoking anything is a huge risk to one's health. What the hell do I know though? I do know this, it was an ugly death for my dad. I would NOT wish that on anyone.

I take care of myself and am proud of NOT having crap put into my system that MAY hurt me...I'll also be the one who gets hit by the cab crossing the street someday.

I have studied Cancer Epidemiology at the doctoral level, and you can certainly believe what you want - the real debate only exists as to whether or not (pot) it is an initiator or promoter, not whether or not it is associated.

"Repeat what they heard"? dude reading the literature is what scientists do to establish their hypothesis and then test them (like the study I showed you).

Again, believe as you may. Most do till they are diagnosed.

So gamby should just enjoy little pleasures like smoking weed, non-abusively, because we are all going to die anyways?

I agree!

:) hehehe

good luck gamby in your quest to stop.

alright, so answer this...weed is not cancer causing, from what i understand.
not like tobacco is...you can eat weed, roll around in weed, stick it up your ass, etc...and you won't get cancer.
but when you smoke it, it can cause cancer.
apparently it's the smoke that can cause health problems, weed inherently (from what i know) is not a dangersous substance.
and neither are dried tree leaves that you find on the ground...but, the smoke from dead leaves is cancerous and more deadly than tobacco smoke (something to do with the carcinogens as the leaves deteroriate).
this is what i was taught in a college bio class anyway...that smoking anything is cancer causing.
so is weed cancer causing, or is it the smoke that is?

Gambo, they don't really know - but since it has an increased odds (risk), if I had to bet it is a promoter (rather than an initiator).

already over it, just had to vent it out.

do you have gum or candy? it may payoff to keep some handy....

lets spark a blizzy brahhh

i cut back smoking big time especially seeing how big of losers my roomates are smoking day in and day out doing nothing with their lives. they have so much potential, but dont do shit cuz the ysmoke weed. I got stuck in that mode before i landed my new gig

i spoke weed at least every other day still, but only like a hit or two after working and being out of the house for 12-13 hours at a time. gets me relaxed, and nice. doesn't interfere with anything.

smoke, but in moderation!!

I think what you are overlooking is where I said "I've yet to see a non-cigarette smoker die from lung cancer in my personal experiences."

Sorry, but no amount of "studies" will convince me that breathing in a few puffs of weed smoke a day or every other day is even remotely as harmful as cig smoke. People don't consume a cig a day, they typicall suck down several.

Granted you can abuse anything, but most weed smokers don't (and arent physically capable).

Everyone I've seen die of lung cancer smoked cigarettes. <~~~~ That's the point I was making.

MightyMouse69 said:

Yes it does.

People hear it said all the time, but when you actually see the pain and misery of someone dying of lung cancer, you cannot imagine how horrible a death it is.

I agree weed isn't as bad because most weed smokers do not smoke 20 joints in 1 day. It's still bad for you but most smoke way less weed then tobacco.

And for anyone who says they smoke 20 j’s in one day, every day is full of shit. :p
