Grip & Rip!!!!!

I love his form. He doesn't even look like he's straining...

I don't quite understand why he wears his belt so high though.

I think I need a guy to come and slap me on the back 5 times too before I lift. I'm sure I could pull 900 then too.

I think its just the singlet that makes the belt look high, looks fine to me.

this thread title could be good advice for more than one topic, lololol

JWBurns,

"Thinnish" thighs are not that uncommon on great deadlifters. A bunch of extra mass on the front of the leg puts you at a mechanical disadvantage when pulling around it, and the quads, while being used in the DL, are not the prime movers. The posterior chain is... hamstrings, glutes, back.

His form wasnt that great.....did you see him turn his head and neck to the side???

That's just begging for injury.

Don't you just love when people bitch about form when someone is pulling weight they couldn't pull half of? How on EARTH can you guys bitch about his form? He is one of the best deadlifters in the world, i think he knows what works for him or else you would be pulling more then him.

Can you pull half that without straps?

Guys a friggin beast among beasts and you have the audacity to critique his form?

Lol is all I can say.

That's like telling Alex Rodriguez his swing has a weird thing going on in his mechanics because it isn't text book. C'mon.

almost makes it look like he has a mechanical advantage somehow when hes doing the dl. moves that weight like its noones business. thats awesome.

give the guy a break with the injury comment. its one persons observation.

seriously, youre a moderator, act like one.

You think his form sucks. You should see mine. It's text book. I hitch everything over 225 but I never miss at the top.

Pretty damn amazing. I think I will head on over to the gym right now and give that a try! NOT

How am i not "acting like a moderator". Alot of people need to realize what is said online and what is done in the gym is pretty far apart. Things do not work on paper like the do in person. People tend to get too carried away in one direction to prove an argument online to the point where it gets ridiculous and not true. Such as the comment about a professional powerlifter having bad form.

i completely agree with you but as a moderator you mediate. dont lead the charge. this forum has a tendancy to be snobbish. that could scare away potential paying customers. just a thought. notice how the bandwagon formed behind you.

Yea, I'm a PL snob.

In my many years of existence, I have come to believe that when someone calls someone else a snob it is out of jealousy.

Is that the case here? Are you jealous of powerlifters?

If you are, you shouldn't be. I can put you on a program that will make you one too and you can be like us. Let me tell you that there is nothing like putting 800 lbs on your back and cranking out reps. It really gets the blood pumping.

Plus we get to wear all that cool gear with names like Titan and Metal that hurt to put on.

And after a while your hands get so calloused that they feel like friggin 80 grit sandpaper.

Then there are the cool contraptions we get to use like a monolift (if your federation allows it - mine doesn't, but that's OK since I think if you can't back out the weight you shouldn't be squatting it anyway).

Well, anyway, when you want to get under one of our bars, or have me put together a program for you let me know. I'm here to help.

Just don't be a hater....

that was funny. ive pulled 500 at just under 200 lbs. im content being a weak bber. if i needed a program though, i know where to go. thanks.

No bandwagon, just happened to agree.

Anyways, the thread is going to get distracted. It doesn't really matter.

The guy is a pro, and one of the best in the world. The form critique was silly. The response could have been more civil without swearing. But it wasn't.

Not that big of a deal. Let's move on.

Truly amazing. I've watched nearly all of his vids and he is almost always technically perfect. With max weights, if your form isn't perfect, you don't make the lift.

I'm guessing he is bigger than most people on here, even his tiny legs...lol. My legs look 8' long when I have on a high cut suit.

That sounds too sexy for words...

When it stops raining and I get my tan on...and shave...I'll send you a picture!

Would you autograph it "To my long lost love across the Atlantic, Jason Bergman."? I'll put it up in his gym and see how long it take him to notice.

B-

Jason is a freak of nature!!! That guy is freaking strong! You train at HIS gym? Lucky!!!!

Freak of nature is a good way of putting it.

He beats the hell out of me 4 days a week there.

I think he has held his breath and tightened up for lifts so much he has broken a few blood vessels in his brain. He's just not right....

Today I got to see him do one arm pull ups for every one I did with 2 arms. It was my 3rd set and got 12 - so did he. That wasn't the big deal. The impressive thing was that he was able to keep his body in plane with the bar and not "twist away" from it like when you see those 115 lb mountain climbers do them.

At the same time he couldn't be a nicer more soft spoken non-intimidating guy.

B-

I saw that video too. It's interesting to note how his form has changed from the first video. In the first one I posted he sets up and then drops grabs and pulls. In this one, he takes time to "grip up" before the pulling action. Also it seemed like there was a slightly deeper set to his hips.

B-

Yeah he is starting to know his body a little better, after a certain amount of weight, for him it's over 400kg, every extra stuff you can throw in to help with it it's a must.

I only saw this thread yesterday and missed all the fun about the form checks :worried: People don't realize that there are no 900lbs deadlifts for checks on books and that amount of weight will cause the body to "realign itself" in order to complete the task eficiently.

Rippetoe actually talks exactly to that point a lot when he explains the mechanics of the DL.

The absolute best part of that video is when he just sits there holding it looking around and smiling. Like he is truly happy, not like he is going to eat your children.

I don't know much about rippetoe work besides the 3x5, I know that's a sacrilege, but every now and then I go to youtube check his stuff and I'm starting to admire the guy.

On topic that's what I like about this guy and Koklyaev too because this guys enjoy themselves while at it :supercool
