Greatest Heavyweight Boxer Ever...

TC2 said:
rocky marciano with out a dought, anybody that disagrees doesn't know shit about boxing.

Mike tyson was great in his prime, I used to live to watch him fight.

But if you go back and look at rocky marciano's fights you'll see what a truley great fighter he was, and by far the hardest puncher.

I would have to agree...He was undefeated and no one else can say that. Would he have been beaten by Lewis, Holyfield, or Tyson...maybe, but you can't look at it that way. Boxers will always get bigger, stronger and faster. Rocky was a sub-200 lb heavweight and beat every one of his opponents ass. Tyson may be the most talented, but doesn't even make my top 3 because he didn't have the heart or willpower to stay on top. He had everything going for him and HE decided to piss it all away. If Tyson had half the heart of Rocky Marciano he would still be Champ.

Polish-Sugar Ray Robinson was welter/middleweight...Just thought I'd point that out.But lb for lb he may be the greatest fighter to ever step in the ring. His ability/toughness/speed/power was mind-boggling.A truly complete fighter.

H-Finn,

Your absolutely right. I have no idea why I included him. Hmmm?

Mike Tyson pre Robin Givens.

I agree. The "old" Mike Tyson would knock out any heavyweight boxer who ever stepped foot in the ring, including my sentimental favorite Ali.

Yes, Tyson would beat the hell out of Rock M., Joe Luis & Ali!

ALI KNOCKED HIS PHILLY CHEESE_STEAK LOVIN ASS OUT

lol
bullett, read my post again, and this time put some thought into it. Yeah, Ali scored a knock out acording to officail boxing regulation. But while Frazier went out to party, Ali was rushed to the hospital. Who kicked who's ass?

BTW, record books may show different, but Frazier beat Ali TWO times before that last bout.

EHHHHH WRONG!!! Dude, why post if you really have no idea what you are saying??? Get your history straight brother. The first fight: Frasier BEAT Ali in a DECISION!! Second fight: Frasier couldn't make it out of the corner for the 15th and final round. In other words, he quit! Third fight: another Ali victory. Do a Yahoo search or something.

Totally agree, the old mike tyson was simply the greatest force heavyweigth boxing has ever seen. I agree that ali, rocky, hollyfield and a few others are great fighters....but i dont think any of them could touch mike in his day. Youngest ever champ, came from nothing to become one of the most talked about athletes ever.....problem is the iron man could'nt handle such a drastic lifestlye change and has had a lot of demons to battle over the years, shame since i think he is the most perfect athlete to ever grace the heavyweight devision.....power, speed, intimidation, aggression and the fact he loves hurting people....

'i wanna hurt him, i want him to feel the pain, or somewhat of the pain that i have had to feel in my life'

-Tyson before the lewis fight

Cant believe that was the same man of the late 80's.....very hard to believe.

Actually, The second fight was also a decision favoring Ali. The Third fight was the one that was stopped prior to the 15th round. However, it was Frazier's corner who stopped the fight due to Joe's eye closing and his not being able to see Ali's punches coming. As for frazier himself, he would have NEVER quit against Ali!

Bro, come over to my house and watch the damn tapes with me.

I said "BTW, record books may show different, but Frazier beat Ali TWO times before that last bout."

Look past your ass for a second. Go rent that second fight. Frazier WON, no contest.. The judges GAVE the recorded win to Ali.

In other words, he (Frazier) quit? Dude, you would't know Frazier if the knocked your ass out.

I actually meant to delete that post brother. My apologies, because after I checked I found I was in error. The fight where Joe didn't(or couldn't) come out for the 15th round was the 3rd fight. The "Thrilla in Manilla" as it were. I've never seen the second fight, but know that Ali won so you could very well be right on that one. Don't get me wrong though, Joe was a gutsy mother fucker without doubt, and had a KILLER left hook, as Ali found out in the first fight.

No big deal. I have an advantage as I really do have the tapes of the fights. Frazier clearly won the first two. He was robbed of the win for the second. I like to think he could have (and was) winning the third, but it was a legit loss as far as the boxing record is concerned. (Of course given the choice of being Ali in the hospital or Frazier out on the town, I know who's ass got kicked.)
