gotta bench question

it seems like everytime I try to do bench press I get weaker

like 4 days ago I could do 3 sets of 10 no problem

yesterday I could only go first set 10 second set 8 and then 6

and this has been happening for a while I can never get to the point where I was after my injury or even increase the weight.. its just that im stuck at same weight and sometimes I can do a little more and sometimes a little less. I dont have this problem with squats, dead lifts or any other ones.

anyways some things that might be in my way...

a blood clot in my shoulder from which I recovered not too long ago so everything is fine now

2 hour pretty intense basketball practices before I go and lift.

not enaugh carbs cause Im trying to be on a low card diet.. I still take good ammount of carbs though I think...


other then that I dont kno what the problem is my confidence level is high but when it comes to bench it just pisses me off.
 
I use to do it every other day a year ago and started seeing great gains....

now I do it twice a week and its not gettin any better

and Im not talking about alot too u know its well under 200lbs here Im talking about so I dont see how I at least cant get back to where I was/

and again its just incline and normal bench that i have problem with... everything else is good
 
your doing 2 hours of intense basketball, and then lifting? all while on a low carb diet.

also what was your injury? and what have you done to take care of it?
 
i lift after 2.5-3 hours of lax, im making gains on a moderate carb diet. bump up the carbs a little. if that doesnt help, then its you injury and it hasnt been properly recovered/rehabbed.
 
I had a blood clot in my shoulder which means that one of my main veins in the shoulder was blocked so no blood could go through it, it leads to ur hand swallowing up cause the blood circulation there is slower, sometimes it goes num etc.(theres other little veins though) anyways after taking one year off from any training(basketball, lifting)the blood is flowing again, I had to take lots of medicine for first 6 months or so, and do lot of injections in my stomach to get my blood thinner etc.

its still not 100% but the chances are it may never be 100% again, however it is in a good working condition where I can lift again and play basketball on my team.

oh and when I first time tried to do the bench (after I got clearence that I can do low weights about 3 months ago) I seriusly had trouble doing 90lbs, dont ask me why but I felt like a little kid again. now Im in 180 range..

oh and another thing that is slowing me down is long arms.. and I think I grew about 1 inch from the time I got a blood clot cause now im 6'7'
 
id say just take yuor time, just do one bench day a week for a while. Something like that would have a huge impact on your muscles. And defnately bump up the carbs, your muscles will thank you. I dont think now would be the time to cut weight, your body needs the enrgy to heal and recover.
 
okay just went down another 10lbs

this was after 3 days break and no basketball practice...

I got pissed to I did as many push ups as I could untill my hands became useless.. that way I could say I put in some work at the gym even though It might have been a wrong thing to do

you think wrong. eating is more important than training. 2 hours of basketball and lifting...........i presume your a teen in high school. very very skinny.........

start eating your ass off.

im almost 6'7 I guess and 220lbs right now.. play basketball at a junior college.

I also know my bodyfat is higher then it needs to be so Im trying everything to get rid of it right now while gain some muscle and thats why im on low carb diet.. anyway its not so low carb anymore although still not enaugh I guess..

the thing is that I see an improvement in everything except the bench press

even my chest is getting bigger but I guess weaker.

today I saw a preview of my 6pack or more like 2pac(still lots more to go on lower abs)when I woke up since I wasnt holding that much water in me, so i must be doing something right..
 
by the way right now i dont got time for such diets such as bulk or cut since I gotta perform better from day to day on basketball court so if I start gaining weight that is not gonna help me I know that for sure.. If im not eating enaugh carbs I wont have enaugh juice to last all practice going harder and better then everyone else on the floor..

that why I gotta be somewher in the middle so that I lose that fat slowly yet have enaugh to go hard.
 
pick........... bigger bench or loose weight........... but naturally its very hard to do both, while playing college basketball, its impossible.

yea fuck it I dont even care anymore cause I think my bball practices are gonna switch to a time that I cant make any of them because of girls basketball practice so who knows.. in that case I cant play ball so I might have to concentrate on getting big.
