Please Scroll Down to See Forums Below i got into an argument with my aunt about something earlier and i brought up something about the road shes going down with this alcoholic boyfriend of hers and told her shes going to relapse and go back to doing crack (shes an ex-crackhead, at one time she got so high that she let another junkie borrow my car and he stole it) and shes got the nerve to say "your doin even worse then both of us. Youre a steroid junkie...thats just as bad as any drug". She had went through my drawer looking for keys or something and saw a few vials and packaged pins. its just funny...people think they know about things and say ignorant things without any knowledge of the subject matter. this is me ranting im just pissed right now.

as a note- everyone has their desires and/or addictions, yours at least is productive and CAN be part of a healthy lifestyle.
ANYTHING that requires dedication requires some level of addiction... JMHO
(not in anyway justifying "aunties" position or statements... just adding a point of clarification...addiction is not always a "bad" thing-- some of the most successful people are addicted to the work they do, the challenges the face, etc..)

I'm an "ex-junkie". Been many years since I touched anything. I use supps for health and to combat aging and yes, I am "obsessive" about my fitness. But I'm very safe with my intake and will do nothing to compromise my quality of life, only make it better. I'd much, much, much rather be obsessed on growing my arms 1/2" and lowering my BF% than where I'm going to get the next hit...no comparison. Tell your aunt to go to a f**king meeting.

This is nothing more than another pathetic excuse that addicts use in an attempt to justify the choices they make. Having been in a similar situation - she isn't going to make changes to her life until she recognizes what's happening and wants to make the change (regardless of what you tell her).

I'm an recovering addict also, had a bad heroin addiction off and on for 12 years, not to mention the other drugs I used. I've been clean for a while now, and I agree that's its better to be obsessive and compulsive about something positive like bodybuilding than it is to be addicted to something negative. Everything needs to be taken in moderation, just don't let an addiction control your life.

so in order to do ANYTHING, not demanded/required/forced of/on you, you have to be a bit of a junkie. its all relative thinking.
you dont necessarily think badly of car junkies, speed junkies, video game junkies, political junkies,... its contextual.. dont allow others to force their world view on top of yours or to correlate the crippling mental and physical addiction of crack cocaine to your use of anabolics to achieve your goal...

Social norms really suck. People never think for themselves anymore. Just look at all the hullaboo over firefighters and roids. People are so stupid. It reminds me of how my friend is a licensed firearms instructor here in Pho-town. He drives a Hummer with machine guns as graphics (to advertise his biz) and he lives in this fancy shmancy richy rich neighborhood. The Hummer totally sticks out cuz his hood is filled with all Mercedes, Beemers, Lexus, etc. Basically all of his neighbors all think he's some militia nut and act as if they're too good to talk to him. Yet the minute some weirdo in a stationwagon starts driving around their neighborhood trying to entice children into his car, guess who's door they're knocking on first for help???
And if another person tells me Harry Potter Books are tools of the devil when they have never read a Harry Potter book themselves, I'm going to skin them alive with a dull buck knife. I am a recovering addict as well. Coke, crack, heroin, anything that got me fucked up. Been clean a long time now, through meetings, step work, having a sponsor, being a sponsor, and lots of hard work. The nature of addiction put simply is obsession, and compulsion, which when put to good use is simply committment.
