Got a sharp pain in my head today while lifting. Is this bad?

I was doing shrugs today with 635 pounds and I got sharp pain in my head around the 4th rep. I was holding my breath, which I should not have been doing. I was dizzy and had a really sharp pain in my head for about 1 hour. Its now about 90 minutes later and although the sharp pain is gonna I am still a bit dizzy. Does anyone know what may have happened and if it serious or not? I am afraid that I may have burst a blood vessel or something, but I am not sure.

see if this persists.... i had this recurring at every workout for about 3-4 weeks and then it just stopped. If it does persist, see a neurologist.

Thanks bro, I was just worried that I may be in some immediate danger.

You're dying.....

(haha I love the title of this thread as if a sharp excruiating pain in the head is ever a good thing:FRlol: )

Its probably a weird little muscle pull, sometimes if i clench my jaw too tight my head will kill for hours. like cramp kinda. If it was a berry aneurism you would probably be dead by now.

Well I am not dead yet, so hopefull I will be ok.:D

If you would have blown a blood vessel in your brain you would by lying next to the squat rack with blood coming out of your ear...Your internal cranial pressure has just become stronger. What does not kill you makes you stronger...

When you are REALLY exerting yourself, you tend have some weird shit happen once and a while. I was doing some ridiculously heavy 45 deg. leg presses one day and suddenly my eye twitched. It didn't stop for 2 weeks!! My eye just wouldn't stop twitching. I thought I'd short-circuted my nervous system.

In your case, you probabbly blew a brain cell and can now only remember HALF your phone number.

Ive had the ole eye twitches before....its common, but annoying.

I had this once when doing dips. Held my breath coming back up and a sharp sharp pain went off in my head. Took like 2 weeks to go away, but only hurt when doing dips or similar exertion exercises.

Has anyone ever gone to the gym with a really bad headache and by the end of your workout when your driving home you notice its not there anymore?

if your headache has to do with stress, it probably went away because you were able to do something to get your stress of the day out.

my health teacher told us if we are stressed we should do activity, and get unstressed ina posative way:)

You most likely pinched a nerve..
its happened to me.. and it sucked ass...
I would be doign some minute stressing activity and Id get it and HAVE To lie down..
go see a chiro
