Good weight gainer/protein powder?

According to Nate in another thread (can't link it as I'm using the app), soybeans are degummed using hexane. He says that even though refined, soy lechitin is bound to contain trace amounts, and hexane is carcinogenic. He really advocates against the ingredient.

Wish I could link the post. It was in the thread about Better Bars started by psizzle8 where a guy was comparing them to why you could buy at 7-11, and off Amazon.

Edit: laxfiend got that posted as I was typing!

Thx all for your suggestions and debates. I'm learning alot. And a huge thanks for the direction to proteinfactory.com!!! I ll be ordering Big Blast this week. So stoked. This product seems amazing and I can't wait to test it out.

Some clarification on the soy lecithin issue.

First of all, the amount used to give texture and solidity to one of those candy bars requires a process that is more concentrated. The amount in a bar is far greater than the amount in a portion of a powder. Since Better Bars are made fresh, there's no reason to use lecithin.

But that aside...

Do you realize chemicals are used in the processing of almost everything you eat, including organic food? EVERY chocolate flavored protein powder includes soy lecithin even if it isn't listed (since the amount is so small). If it didn't the chocolate would separate, dry out and look and taste pretty gross.

What about artificial sweeteners? Gelatin capsules? Chalk used to keep capsules solid? There is virtually NOTHING that doesn't contain some chemical processing.

And not for nothin', but... GUYS ARE STICKING HORSE MEDICINE IN THEIR ASS AND YOU'RE AFRAID OF A LITTLE LECITHIN?!?!?

Not to mention, Soy lecithin is one of the best sources of natural choline, which has been shown to improve brain function and detoxify the liver.

So there's absolutely nothing to worry about taking BIG BLAST to get the gains that you want.

Nelson is right the amount used to make protien bars and candy bars is almost 100 times what is used to make other products. Still
I have a protein powder coming out soon that uses "EGG" lethine very soon. Egg lethin does not go through the same degumming process that soy does . Its the same lethine they use to make soy free babey formula . And for people who want 100 percent optimol health its the best you can get.

As of right now though you are stuck because there isnlt a protien on the market that does not have some trace amounts of soy lethine in it. O other then that which is now used in the better protein bars. I started with this products with plans to expand if it catches on. Its not cheap its double the cost of normal protein

I didn't mean to bash big blast. I was just basing my comments on what I heard from needto and a little research. I love big blast, take it everyday, or twice a day. So I'm not trying to start an arguement here. I just do the best I can to eat the healthiest foods, and inform others when I see ingredients which put up a red flag. But you and needto have cleared everything up for me. Thanks

P.S. I don't stick horse medicine in my ass or anywhere else on my body, and I could care less how other people treat their bodies.

I am looking forward to that protein needto. I will try it out for sure.

HA! Just making a joke about the extent some people go to build muscle. I appreciate the quest for health. I'm a health guy too.

Egg lecithin would be awesome, but yeah, it's WAY more expensive. Incidentally, BIG BLAST contains whole egg -- one of the very few protein supplements to do so (bedises the old Rheo Blair formula) and with good reason. WHole egg is the perfect amino balance, plus EFA's, and the body needs some cholesterol to make homones, PLUS, the yolk contains LECITHIN.

That's interesting. Another good thing about big blast I didn't know about. I bought 4 pounds of big blast and I'm already running low because I can't go a day without it. It definitely makes a difference, maybe its just in my head, but I feel better before/after/during workouts. All thanks to you for informing me about this great product. I used to just take regular protein, and that didn't perform nearly as well as big blast.

The bottom line is this: If Nelson or Nathan formulated the product, back the product, and sell the product themselves, you KNOW it WORKS and is good!

That's $72.99 every 15 days??? For some crap calories and protein. Get REAL food for MUCH cheaper and be healthier while doing it. Taking in almost a pound of powder a day....unreal.

Yeah, it is more beneficial for those who doesent have time to cook food or in a hurry. Besides, half a serving is 600 calories and 25 grams of protein.

So, mixed with milk, half a serving of serious mass will yield 900 calories and 38 grams of protein. Good for hard gainers.
