Going to the Chiro. I need advice.

Two questions for the experts:

1. I have slight scoliosis (sp?) and feel minor pain on my left side when sitting in my car for several hours at a time. Aside from that my back is EXTREMELY tight. My trainer called it "fucked up" :) - can they fix scoliosis? Or would several adjustments at least help?

2. Big one. How is chiropractic massage different from a $90-spa (swedish, deep tissue, etc...) massage (which I get fairly regularly)? My lower left lower back is especially tense/sore/scarred/tight/whatever, so if an EXPERT could do something about it... so what's the difference btwn the massages?

Thx.

I'll be more than happy to answer ya bro :)

1. scoliosis is a lateral curvature of the spine..there are many reasons for it..sometimes your IVD (intervetebral discs) are degenerated, or your actual vetebral bodies dont articulate ("line up") properly. Yes chiropractic can adjust and try to fix that wrong curvature but you must realize it will take time to fix since you've had that "curve" for most of your life. Now as for the tightness, its probably due to muscle spasm meaning, there is probably a pinched nerve due to a sublixation somewhere in your spine causing the muscle to spasm..adjustments will relieve that pinch nerve so mental impusles can flow freely to that muscle(s) so that it can relax and contract normally.

2. massages concentrate on detoxifying your muscles. They push and squeeze etc. to literally squeeze out the toxins found inside the muscles, and also increase circulation for that muscle. Massages do nothing for your central nervous system, which is the most important thing that makes you alive. Read previous posts in this thread if you want to know why the CNS is so important.

Massages will not release those "pinched" nerves by anymeans..those nerves are blocked or interfered by your vetebral bodies of your spine and only chiropractic adjustments can relieve it.

hope that helps.
