Get me a statue of teh Wall Street Bull/Bear and I will reimburse you!
I've never been to NYC, but I'd check out all the financial stuff, the museums/science stuff, maybe check out NYU/Columbia or whoever's in the city, the Library of Congress, the Museum of Art, check for any symphonies/operas, see the animaldoods at the zoos, see a baseball game and boo the Yankees, see some historic buildings and architecture...hmm... do they offer tours of any of the famous big firms that failed during the recession like Stearns or Latham?
There's an infinite amount of stuff to do in a limited period of time, so it really depends what you're into. I'd personally stay away from the tourist crap, though.
Work out stuff that you'd both want to see/do so one of you isn't bored doing something the other enjoys. Like, I'd be cool just hanging around the NYSE/NASDAQ/NYMEX/ICE and library and maybe tour a university, but I suppose that some boring people wouldn't find that stuff as awesome as I would.
Take pictures and poast them here, too.
