Go Flames Go.....

Now that was one helluva game tonight.

Be interesting to see how TB responds, they always do so it should be a great game 2 but tonight they were beaten in every aspect of the game. I knew Calgary was quick but didn't expect it to be so one sided. They hit everything that moved and were the first to the puck 99% of the time.

This also wasn't one of TB's best games so it is gonna get good.

Dont kid yourself bro. Calgary is going to spank the b'geezus out of TB! I will loose all faith in hockey and mankind if the cup goes to Florida. Calgary is confident, young, and hungry for the cup! TB just cant wait to hit the golf course!

GO FLAMES!

T-Bay doesn't know how to play against a team that's faster than they are....the Flames' aggressive forecheck totally threw the Lightning for a loop.

Can't wait until basketball is done, nothing interesting to it to me. On the other hand Calgary owned the Lightning tonight. faster, penalty kill and general play. Should be an interesting game 2. Though I think the Flames will do the same thing to TB.

The Southeast division is cursed!

Florida lost 4-0 to Colorado
Washington lost 4-0 to Detroit
Carolina lost 4-1 to Detroit

Tampa lost 4.....

I see a pattern :D

GO FLAMES GO!

flames impressed the hell out of me last night. i still can't believe they plowed through detroit and san jose. now they take game one of the finals. who are these guys??

Hammy what was your take on last nights game bro!

the bolts for some reason didnt seem ready to play and got their asses handed to them (maybe nerves), they started out halfway decent then the flames first goal was a fluke, and it seemed to take something out of them, and their power play was nothing short of pathetic, just seemed to me maybe the bolts took them for granted and figured it would be an easy win, the bolts shots also seemed weak in the game, alot of shots coming of the end of the sticks and stuff, kiprusoff didnt have to make too many hard saves, although he was very good in the net, which does worry me, its still my opinion if they both play their best games the lightning are far superior, a game 2 win is a must, and the bolts are an excellent road team, calgary just wanted game 1 more and got the win

Granted TB didn't play their best game but Hammy Calgary beat them in all aspects and I believe that had more to do with the outcome and them not playing well.

First goal was a fluke no doubt that took the wind outta them a little but TB was still better in the first then just got wore down by Calgary as the game went on.

TB doesn't know how to react to a faster team that can also pound them into submission. TB's lack of powerplay was also more determined by the aggressive play of Calgary's killers, something else they are not accustomed too.

Tomorrows game is crucial, TB loses that they are done.

Raw talent wise TB might have more, but Calgary is bigger, faster and has the hotter goaltender in the playoffs.

Both these teams are aggressive and TB isn't used to that, not in the way Calgary is. MTL was fast, but not big enough. Phil was big but not fast enough.

Calgary will be champs in 6 bud.

the only thing i agree with is that calgary does have very good agressive penalty killers, i do not think calgary is faster, i think the bolts were just not in the game, and i also dont think calgary is a more aggressive team than the bolts

I live in Philly and was pissed as hell when the flyers lost in game seven, even though I don't really know why or how they played so well to get there!! So I hope Calgary STOMPS the hell outta Tampa!!! :p

Hammy Hammy Hammy, you and the rest of TB area are the only ones that must believet that TB is as fast. Waht were you watching yesterday.

Bigger, Faster, Hit Harder, beat them to the puck almost 90% of the time!

TB does pass better but they were hit or intercepted by the quick flames and couldn't get it going!

They are for real and it will get good.

Hammy...as a whole, the Flames are much faster than T-bay. T-bay has the fastest player in St. Louis, but as a group they have average speed at best. Calgary, on the other hand, has a lot of guys with blazing speed. Flames in 6 if T-bay wins the next game. Flames in 4 or 5 if T-bay loses game #2.

i believe the only reason calgary seems faster is because of their clutching and grabbing, they are the 6th seed for a reason, another factor that i think affected the game was the ice is bad they are playing on, its very hot right now and im sure the ice is sub par, not an excuse both teams have to play on it, but i think it was probably a factor on the bolts bad passing and almost fanning on alot good scoring chances

There was very little clutching and grabbing last night.

Hell we were all talking at work here about how even though the Americans TV dudes didn't watch this matchup it is the best hockey since the 80's wide open style as niether team plays that shit trap.

I just hope that both teams can keep up the pace as this is hockey as its meant to be played. Fast transitions at both ends and guys using thier talent to make plays.

what are you talking about calgary played the trap the whole night?

Hammy...when you are sending 2 forecheckers in on every dump-in, that is NOT the trap! The trap is when you don't forecheck at all, and have all 5 guys clogging up the neutral zone.

hamstershaver said:
as soon as they scored the first goal they played the trap, what would you call it?

They kept sending 2 guys in at all times, name one trap team that is that aggressive. Sorry Hammy TB got beat at their own game last night, it was obvious that man for man they aren't as fast as Calgary and it showed.
