i think you guys should seriously consider buying a 22 conversion kit for your glock.

Advantage Arms makes a FANTASTIC kit that will convert pretty much every glock model into a 22.

i thought they were bullshit...until i first shot one. after that, i have been a convert.

thanks to the 22, i shot 600+ rounds for $13.

no, no..the conversion kit is a whole new slide, barrel, and spring (the entire upper portion). you just put it on the receiver (the plastic part of the firearm).

you change your caliber just like you were stripping it to clean.

.22 rimfire is a filthy cartridge that will foul anything that fires it. The Glock can take the abuse, but since I hate cleaning guns I won't be converting my Glocks.
I do love firing my Ruger 10/22, but again that filthy cartridge takes some of the fun out of the experience.

i just spent two hours cleaning two different guns.

but once again, this is pretty much the exact same setup as a standard glock.

it's easy as hell to clean.

No cartridge is inherently "filthy". The powder and bullet that the manufacturer employs will decide how "clean" a cartridge is.

Since .22 cartridges are usually made as cheaply as possible....it may seem that they are filthy. Top of the line .22 cartridges would likely foul less than other cartridges due to less powder, less pressure and a smaller bullet.

.17 calibers have been tried. That caliber fouls out the barrel quite rapidly. The .22 is the same size barrel as the .223 or 22-250. As I recall.
