given up on park rides?

I went to Canada's Wonderland (theme park) last Friday.
A few of the rides - especially Skyrider and Italian Job - had a horrible fit. Skyrider's a standing ride with a couple of loops that your arms go through. it took me 15 seconds to get in and almost a minute to get out and the ride was claustrophobic because the loops didn't go apart far enough, i could barely breathe after it was locked down. I won't even talk about those Italian Job minis. Italian job midgets more like.
How do you 240+ people handle it, hang back and let your GF ride alone?
