Hey guys, I've been preparing and eating natural foods ever since I started bulking, apart from my protein shake, and it's starting to bother me.
First off, some of the stuff doesn't taste all that great (kidney beans, egg whites) and takes a lot of time to cook.
Is there a clear benefit of natural foods over meal replacement powders or weight gainers.
I am on a bulking diet and have recently upped to about 3700-3800 after finding out that 3200 calories wouldn't bulk me up, and it's bcome more and more difficult to cook all that food, and then make time to eat it.
My question is: What's the main difference with me eating a cup of kidney beans, 6 egg whites, a chicken sandwich, and a cottage cheese/cereal mixture versus me taking 2 meal replacement shakes or weight gainer powders. ( I don't eat this all at once, by the way)
Notice I'm using the Meal Replacement powder and Weight Gainer terms interchangeably...that's cuz I don't understand the difference. Please explain it if you know.
The only reason I eat natural is cuz there aren't any sugars and weird stuff in the ingredients that they try to fool you with (i know weight gainers have tons of crappy sugars). But, if there's a clean one out there, is it worth to use it over natural foods? Will I be gaining more fat if I use powders rather than batural foods like chicken, beans, eggs, and cheese?
Even if I do switch to the powder, I would still take in some chicken, cottage cheese, and so forth, but just not as much as I am now. Also, in case your wondering about price comparisons, I'm pretty sure the powder would save me cash cuz the cottage cheese (it's like $2 for a days worth!!!! $3.19 plus tax for 24oz) and stuff is costing me a fortune.
Any opinions are welcome. Thankx.
