Getting started

i've reached a point where food doesn't taste good to me anymore. i'm eating because i don't know what else to do (other than to sit around and feel sorry for my fat ass). i'm working out at least four days a week, but i can't get going on the diet part.
what's a good routine to follow if you're just starting to develop a healthy eating plan?
i'm tired of being :rolly: and of being scared to meet people because i'm so fat.
(in case you're wondering, i'm a female, 5'1, and weigh 210 pounds. my measurements are 40ddd breasts - 40 inch waist-52 inch hips.
 
You've made the right start by deciding to make the necessary changes. Well done :)

As much as everybody likes to bash Bill Phillips, the Body-for-Life diet could be exactly what you need. It is very simple to follow and fairly well balanced. A very quick summary of the diet: 6 meals a day consisting of 1 "fist-size" portion of carbs, 1 "fist-size" portion of protein, and a small amount of healthy fats.

Good to see you are working out. Make sure you are lifting weights and not only doing cardio. That is a mistake many beginners (who are trying to lose fat) often make. Weight training should be your priority in the gym.
 
Congrats on taking the first step... you've DECIDED that it's time for you to make a change. I completely agree with bm2k... BFL is a great program for a beginner, especially one who's primary goal is to lost fat. It's relatively simple and easy to follow, and with time, it WILL give results. Check it out:

Spend the 10 bucks and by the book. Take the time to read it and follow EVERYTHING in it down to a T... this is the best way to ensure success. They even have a guestbook there where you can read about others progress and results, and you can even post your own. It'll work. Don't think about it, it WILL work, just do it. Everything except the "free day", IMO. Do a search on "refeeds" and you'll see that they are the way to go...

Also read Par Deus' articles on leptin @ www.avantlabs.com in the Big Mother F'er magazine. They're long and quite complicated for the beginner, so maybe a forum search is the way to go to start with, in order to learn about leptin and refeeding...

First off,kudos to u for making the decision to get into better shape.sticking with it will be a great thing for you i swear!id suggest reading reading and then mooooooorrrrre reading!
educating/teaching yourself is KEY no matter what you do,but its absolutely imperative in this matter cuz its YOUR BODY and nobody can/will do it for you.
it would be a bitch to really outline specifics right here,but seriously,feel free to email me at [email protected] and id b more than happy to help you out w/ whatever you need.im currently helping out via email/phone/in person a few other ppl/friends so it really wouldnt be any prob...i just always get a smile on my face when i see someone starting to get that 'im gonna get myself into kick ass shape' gleam in there eye!

good on you ,the first stages and adjustments are the hardest in the first few weeks but once you get going you will never never look back . we all started somewhere

5'1'' and 210 your BF level is really high. If you try the re-feeds, do them every two weeks. Your leptin levels are super high now, so you should be able to drop some weight quick. And I agree with Georgie. Look into a keto diet. You could get super fast results. Good Luck.
