Gene Rychlak hit a 1005 lbs bench press.

i've heard the same thing about mendelson, straight from him, since way earlier this year. he did a seminar and said he's done over 1k. thats just sick anyway you look at it!

either way, props to anyone brave enough to get that sort of weight handed off to them! i don't care if they had pogo sticks superglued to their elbows and a 3 inch range of motion, its still damn heavy!

The real record is 1005.

If benching with a shirt doesnt count, then bodybuilders using AAS doesnt count. Ronnie Coleman isnt Mr. Olympia then, its one of the "all natural" homos.

A shirt is just a tool, it doesnt mean the person doing the work isnt working as hard... try a shirt sometime, its something that you have to learn to use, you dont just slip it on and suddenly get huge lifts...

This is an awesome quote. Well said. I've been wanting to say this for a while. K for ya.

Rumor has it that Mendelson has been hitting over a grand in the gym consistantly since August. Perhaps we'll see him come back and bench again just to try and regain his record...

That would be cool. He was pretty sure of his retirement from what I could tell - quite the family man.

We talked to Clay today and he said he plans to put on a good showing at the Arnold. He looked fricken HUGE. I know he did a 915 gym lift.

1000lbs is still hard to believe. I would like to see the person that says it's not a lift unless it's raw try to even HOLD 1000lbs in their hands.

Actually, I heard it was 2 ply. To insinuate that Gene is the only person in powerlifting who holds a record that is on AS is insane.

1005 lbs is 1005 lbs......just like Mike Miller's 1200lbs squat. Congratulate them, don't try and discredit what they do.
