Tonight I re-installed Emperor of the Fading Suns, classic turn based strategy game from 1996.

Emperor of the Fading Suns - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Emperor of the Fading Suns is a science fiction "grand-scale" space strategy computer game made by Holistic Design in 1996. The game has a well-developed diplomatic model, a wide array of units and a complex back-story. This game was based on Holistic's in-house role playing game (Fading Suns)."

lol funny you post this...'ve been playing old computer games all night. I downloaded a bunch of dos based games I played once with my dad and have been playing them through dosbox. All adventure games though, like the old sierra stuff.

I will be playing Guild wars till after X-mass as any true gamer Knows they are having the winter games starting today till after christmass. I wont be missing it this year.

You can't beat good gameplay with flashy graphics and such. I still play Alpha Centauri...1999...
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri (sometimes abbreviated to SMAC or Alpha Centauri) is a 4X turn-based strategic computer game created by Brian Reynolds and Sid Meier under the auspices of Firaxis Games in 1999. It is based on a fictional attempt by human beings to colonize a planet in the Alpha Centauri star system. It picks up where Meier and Reynolds' earlier titles, Civilization I and Civilization II, left off. An expansion pack called Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire (aka SMACX or just SMAX) was also released. Although popular with gamers, the game never reached the heights of success of the Civilization games. Pre-patched versions of Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire were later bundled together in the Alpha Centauri Planetary Pack. The game has also been released under the Sold-Out Software label.

lol I'm going back further than that. Like...93-96. The graphics def do NOT hold up but it's all good...it's nostalgic.

Master of Magic...might be the best 4x strategy game ever...It took my strategy cherry for the PC:)

Master of Magic is a single-player, fantasy turn-based strategy computer game created by Simtex and published by Microprose in 1993. The player controls a wizard attempting to rule two worlds. From a small settlement, the player must grow an empire and banish all the other wizards by military might or casting the Spell of Mastery. To do this, the player must manage resources, build cities and armies, and research spells. Master of Magic's early versions had many bugs, and was heavily criticized by reviewers.

I'm not really a gamer and haven't played in at least 10 years or so - maybe a bit less but some true classics I'd love to play once again:

Worms - PS
Mario Cart (i think that's what it's called) where you race your ass round tracks
Super Mario Bros
Medal of Honour - the first one!

I was the king of mario kart in the dorm...

I love old Sierra text based games like King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, etc.

In fact, i might be investing in a company that might be creating text based social network aware adventure games for myspace/facebook.

Operation flashpoint - Awesome war game

Civilization - No game is this addictive when I get into it. You're basically re-building the world.

pfft, you niggas would get smoked in mario kart.

yoshi for the W-I-N

I dominate the tracks on super mario cart especially battle mode! though I liked n64 battlemode the best, we used to build bases.

Toad all the fucking way broseph.

Man have I wasted alot of living hours on video games I don't really have the time or the desire to put the time into any game mastery, strategies are a classic.

Colonization!!!!! one of the first games that started a gigantic chain reaction.

Red alert.

starcraft.

Diablo.

CASTLES!

FF2, CONTRA!

I could sit here for a while listing off old games I've wasted retarded amounts of time on.

Civilization.

Age of empires.

guild wars (this game was to easy, especially when you were playing with the best of the best)

Dota on world of warcraft.

battlefields 2142.

DoD.

the list is plentiful but those are some classics I can think of off the top of my head and not so classic games that will one day be classics in my mind.

Anyone ever play a game called Warlords? I think the version we played was Warlords 3 in about '94 it was huge around my frat house.

The Ancient Art of War - basic turn based strategy game but the first with actual units that fired like archers and you had to conquer a map. You could also build your own maps.

MK2 was one of my favourites. Back when there were few characters but fatalities were still cool.

Fuji Golf 1.0 and SkiFree (played it last week).

You call those classics?

Stationfall, MULE, Impossible Mission

Kick all of your asses.

Seven Cities of Gold...The first game I ever suffered from the "one more turn" syndrome.

The Seven Cities of Gold (video game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

The Seven Cities of Gold is an adventure game created by Dani Bunten (and the game development team Bunten founded, Ozark Softscape) and published by Electronic Arts in 1984. The player takes the role of a late-15th century explorer for Spain, setting sail to the New World in order to explore the map and interact with the natives in order to win gold and please the Spanish court. The name derives from the "seven cities" of Quivira and Cíbola that were said to be located somewhere in the American Southwest.

Since GW Bush is so agile, they need to make a dodgeball game with GW Bush's head as the target

Oregon Trail - they have this game on some cell phones now

Warcraft

I wouldn't mind rocking out some Ultima Online or something but don't wanna pay for the subscription fee

How 'bout one where Sharpton tries to dodge the cops (even though they have film of him making a hefty drug purchase)

We could call it - "Chase America's Biggest Joke Since Jesse Jackson"

???

Just curious......

move on.......:D

Hah, there is more truth to that than people think.

I remember I was grounded for six months for smokin chronic, summer between 8th grade and freshman year, that's when I started playing the online games, like UO. I made some good money off it eventually but I gave it up once I was "ungrounded" and met a nice lady friend......

Ladies only trump games when you're

Ahhh... I still remember shooting Jovians on a TRS-80 Model I level 2. I took it from 4k RAM to 15k RAM and wondered how I'd ever use that much memory.
